What he wants and what he needs are two different things. He needs to put his big boy pants on and use it as a learning experience. His game tends to be wildly inconsistent, which is why he's going to be sent back to Jr. If he can't get consistency in his game there, why does he deserve to be in a higher league?

He wasn't drafted as a finished product. He shouldn't expect to be anywhere but juniors 1 year after being drafted unless he was lights out in camp which he was not. He needs to work on being more consistent. Going over to Russia and playing on the bigger ice would only hurt his game IMO.

Zads, Zads, Zads. Out of all the training camp news both good and bad I think he maybe the most shocking for me (even over sam & grigo). I was thinking that with risto and mccabe improving vastly.. also the additions of some vets that he would come in with a nothing to lose attitude. Everyone wishes that he could play in the ahl but rules are rules and even with the threat of going back he really hasn't helped his cause. Not saying i had him pegged for a roster spot coming into the summer but kinda disappointing when little effort has been shown. Yes he is still very young but i predicted him getting (close to) nine games and then heading back on a high note.... not the 11th D in the rotation late in camp

At least the AHL makes you feel like you are on the path to being in the nhl. Plus you get paid.

I don't think this case is one of those where he really needs to go to the AHL. I think there's still plenty for him to learn in JR. He really just needs to put his head down and bust his ass while he's there. I feel like the fact that he got some time in the NHL last year has gone to his head. He needs another year of Jr and then I would even say he probably needs some AHL time as well before he'll be ready for the NHL. And with the amount of Defense prospects we have, there's no need to force him into the NHL early. Even if that's what he wants.
