I think by game 60... He probably would although I think they will send him back....but to me he's good enough along with Ghost to play now.

What are the chances our AHL defense is better than the NHL by the end of the season?
- PhillySportsGuy

That would be good and bad, at the same time -- but if you can move one of the higher-salaried guys and plug in a comparable replacement on an ELC, then that's winning

All complaint aside, I can't wait till they dress something close to the NHL roster.

Agreed. I think the final roster will be pretty decent. If healthy of course. MDZ slightly worries me. That's about it.

I didn't see it. Thats been this teams biggest problem since they lost the playoff series to the Devils.
- PhillySportsGuy

Even before that, because as much as Matt Carle could be a whipping boy, losing him and Pronger was damn near devastating in such a period of time for that particular aspect of the game.

I don't want to just rip the defense to shreds -- again, this is the preseason, and this same corps made the playoffs last year, though losing Timonen is huge.

But yeah. They have sustained losses in that aspect of the game at a level very few teams could handle.

They could be anything from a 2 seed to a team picking in the top ten. Have a lot of good pieces, also have a need for a lot of things to go right

Didn't Get to watch this, was it as bad as the result shows? So when was the last time the Flyers had this much young talent?

The Pronger-Carle tandem controlled the game and the puck for the 20+ minutes they were out there. That pairing alone if it was possible would transform this team.

Agreed. Another huge thing is Mason staying healthy in particular. They lose him for any extended length of time and they're cooked.

Even moreso, it put Coburn-Timonen as the No. 2 pairing, where they were a dominant duo -- they are able to play No. 1 pair minutes and hold their own, but man.

Just wasn't meant to last. Just gotta hope these kids come in and do something within that realm -- and I think they have that kind of potential.

So, yeah. Getting strafed for six is never a good night, but again, I can't lose my poop when the lineup has Stortini and Schultz in it. I just can't.

Ghost/Coburn
AMac/Schenn
Streit/Morin

If that's what we're looking at in two-three years I think we'd be okay.

It's still very early but it is really starting to look like Ghost has top pairing puck moving ability. The guy has everything you want to see minus 2 or 3 inches of height. It's insane he went where he did in the draft.

Anyone have the point totals Ghost has racked up so far in the preseason? I'm just curious.

His puck handling, shot, and skating is NHL caliber now. Just has to get a little stronger, and given some time to adjust to the pro game away from the puck. The future is promising for the young defenseman. But it's going to take some time. And it's real premature to state that the Flyers are going to be getting rid of anybody.

Don't forget Sanheim, who may well end up the best of the bunch

The first 10 minutes of the game were horrific, and the Flyers were buried real fast in a 3-0 hole. Thereafter, they continued to be sloppy defensively but at least they competed.

The established veterans, by and large, have been awful the last two games. They haven't been dialed in at all. Also keep in mind that:

1) If you include the players who participated in Saturday's scrimmage, tonight's game is the fourth game of a stretch of five in six nights. Very hard to get any sort of continuity with a hideous schedule. Most days, half the squad isn't even in the same place.

2) The Flyers dressed the bare minimum of NHL veterans tonight and the forward lineup in particular consisted almost entirely of bottom-of-the-lineup NHL candidates and Phantoms-bound players.

I think he has the highest two-way upside of them all. He'll probably never be much of physical player even as he fills out but he's barely scratched the surface of the rest of his game. Love his wheels especially.

Oh for sure, I'm just looking 2-3 years down the road. Not sure if Sanheim will crack the lineup by then.

In 4-5 years our D could be scary good.
