How ridiculous is it that AMac played on a top pairing on the Island and was eaten for dinner, and the Flyers are putting him on their top pairing.
- PLindbergh31

Even Im not crazy enough to think that is by design. He's a 2nd pairing guy at best.

Its about the youth to me. I'd rather keep the kids down on their junior teams and have them try and win championships there. Make the phantoms a team with a winning culture.

We know the story with the big club. I have some faith in Hextall, but that's assuming Snider and Holmgren stay out of the way. Not so sure that will be the case. The youth is what excites me about the crew.

typical misuse of players.
- hammarby31

Not too many other choices, Grossmann lacks speed, Streit isn't going to match up well against top lines and Schenn is pretty inconsistent. They just don't have anyone to pair with big nose on the top unit

Ok, I've seen enough...

Akeson SUCKS at trying to carry the puck through the ice, like is it me, or does he lose it trying to dangle like 7/10 times!? I really like his offensive game, but he is actually an AHL player in every other aspect. I kind of hope he DOESN'T make the team, I can see him being our worst defensive liability as a forward.

Yeah, thank goodness it's just our AHL/juniors, for the most part.

So far, the buzzer signifying the end of the period has been the highlight of the night

i've watched rangers broadcasts for years, and generally i'm fine with rosen. he's being a bit of a douche tonight. i can't stand michalletti in any game he calls.

I thought Morin looked alright.

Some mistakes noticed but you can see the potential. Just don't "Luke Schenn" him.

Give the kid time to grow an offensive game in junior and elevate his transition game.

The probable top pair just got eaten alive by an undrafted free agent rookie on the second goal

Will say, Laughton needs to do a bit more. He isn't playing badly by any means, but the kid needs to bring a little more or its down to the AHL.

He plays a simple game, that's his thing but not really looking hungry enough. Just my take.

Imo the biggest reason the Flyers have trouble with the Rangers is the speed game.

Berube can preach a "quicker" game all he wants but unless you are taping rockets to the skates of some of the boys in orange, its not happening.

I'll give a nod to Stortini here, at least he is trying to give his team a boost.

- flyer_nutter

Berube is exactly right. The Flyers are standing still. No team is fast standing still. And the puck moves faster then any player can skate.

Luckily come October 8, it's a clean slate. The early season schedule is a bear, if they don't play well they are going to be buried in the standings, and will be chasing the season.

He's not really a WOW type player, it shows up from time to time but it's not really his game.

You maybe disappointed if you are expecting that to happen often.

Morin has looked good in almost every game. If we didn't have Grossmann or could trade him, I'd keep Morin on the team. He fits. He can keep up, and he's not a liability at all.

As for Akeson, I see the potential there, and saw it last year, but his play through the pre-season has been much, much worse than it was last year in the playoffs. I know it's the pre-season, but it's not even because he isn't scoring, his choices on the ice with the puck are BRUTAL. He is NOT an elite talent that can dangle his hands off in the NHL, and it really seems like he thinks he can...

His speed is average. He has a muffin shot. He doesn't hit. He doesn't back-check. SO HE HAS TO AT LEAST make good choices with the puck, and he hasn't at all. He's cut from my team, and I take Jones or Gordon over him at this point. He'd be a waste of a roster spot.
