edit how did nylander look?

- Skalapy

Barring something miraculous, he looked like after game 9, he will be on a plane to Sweden.

Kid is gonna be a great player for this team, just not yet. It's like sending Rielly back to the Warriors for a year

I will say that none of those guys are going to make a difference to your win/loss column. Even playing 10-12 minutes a night.
- vermie22

Fair, I'd still rather it be a kid we drafted than an old, broken down veteran.

If he makes it and it results in Leivo, Kozun or Carrick getting cut, then we know management was feeding us a load of bullpoop

I have a pint riding on him not making the team, don't (frank) me on this Randy. Don't you (frank) me

everyone needs to relax on the pre season its for the younger guys to show their improvement and the vets to get the cobwebs out and the juices flowing

i just hope we stay away from any more injuries before the season starts

franson was already dead to me other than his slap pass and snapper

- Lucas Neilson

I heard he has a nice little snapper

Sekac is an interesting case. he's much younger than guys like Kontiola and Belov and was most certainly not seen as a KHL star. maybe it doesn't work out but expectations for him here are pretty modest (top 9).

Randy is a joke. While I have seen better defensive play, better layers/support, less running around and some pretty decent break-outs, they are still a one and done attack on the rush. Which is why the shot totals are still 35+ a game so for. The team can't maintain pressure at the other end of the ice and they trade shots. They are also still pretty porous in the Neutral zone.

I can't wait for him to be fired. If that does result in Orr being sent to press box for the rest of the season, so be it.

I'd like to see Kozon & Leivo stay up but Kozon and Carrick will be sent down to the Marlies.
My gut feeling (oh hungry!) on this.

Kozun has been a nice surprise.. But there's no chance he makes the big club this season.

That is a fair point, and I will concede that this is where the roll of players like Orr will be phased out. With new rules in CHL about fights and suspensions, there will be less and less guys coming up through the ranks that are just there for their pugnacity.

just be prepared for star players to be injured more and more...hell just look at this pre-season, and the daily growing list of injured players. Not saying guys like Orr would prevent all these incidents, but every year more liberties are taken and boundaries are pushed further.

- vermie22

Guys will get hurt no matter what. There are freak injuries that are unavoidable and then there are dirty hits. I played 4 years of junior in the 70's. I was 5'5" and liked the physical part of the game. I threw as many hard hits as I received. Nobody had to worry back then that you would get jumped from behind just because you threw a clean open ice hit on someone. You learned to protect yourself and you had to try to stick up for yourself. And if a star got hurt from a clean hit then that was just part of the game.

In the 70's line brawls and even bench clearing brawls were not uncommon in junior and in the NHL. More fighting does not necessarily equate to less injuries. The only time fighting makes any sense is in response to a cheap shot. And if you drop the gloves to protect yourself from more cheap shots then by all means, have at 'er. But the 'protect the stars' mentality is a little overblown and leads to shyt like the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. How many stars (aside from Wayne Gretzky) were/are completely unwilling/unable to try to stick up for himself?
