pre-season, no suits in the seats makes it way more fun

upper bowl can be bad too, with the "real" fans. Wasn't worth the money when I went... and the Leafs won all the games I went to

Message me for MikeAugello Fantasy league! There's a few spots left and it would be awesome to have a full set of teams!

I think at this point Leivo and Kozun have a chance

Leivo is awesome along the boards and has a great shot

Kozun has been fast and dangerous

i've liked both of their games!

Booth has an injury right now, right?

- Lucas Neilson

I remember when LA grabbed him late after his big year in Calgary... I was upset... the Leafs had a pick coming up, and I was hoping they'd take him.

Kontiola might not make the team, and Booth hasn't shown any reason why he belongs on the team. I'd love it for both of them to make it.

Lupul-Kadri-Leivo could be a pretty dangerous line.
Kozun-Holland-Clarkson as the 3rd
Komarov-Winnik-Santorelli as the 4th, with Frattin and Booth as the extras

Games at the ACC suck. Leaf games in Ottawa are always fun.

Must have been the case. I'm sitting 6 rows back asking where all the sushi-eaters are.

Nothing but blue-collar folk.

always the great illusion of preseason.
- DoubleDown

So you think the older guys would play better over the long haul? Or are you saying management always wants the young guys to think there is a chance they will make the team if they work hard enough? Right now Leivo is definitely outplaying more established guys. You aren't saying that's an illusion are you?

if Leivo doesn't make opening night, then the whole "somebody's going to lose there job" thing was horsepoop. He's been one if the 4 best wingers in camp, and it isn't close.

even without injuries he should make it.

The kid is running on pure adrenaline.

An 82 game scheduale is full of streaks and is long. To find consistency is an extremely hard thing. The established vets can handle these ups and downs better than the unknown

Except you don't know the unknown until you give the kids a chance. Vets who are slowing down and over the hill need to go at some point. Leivo's ready.

He didn't look out of place last season, the few games he played.

If he falters, send him back down.

Hence showing Orr the door.

Get the hint Orr?

Awkward.

Leave.

Not you, arbitrary henchman holding a wrench pretending to do something.

Don't you have a home Colton??

Get in your home!!!

I actually agree on Kontiola, but I wanted to use his situation to make my point. This is the time where you make the team or don't. Guys like Leivo and Kozun have been busting their asses and looking a whole lot better than some of the players that will make the team.

I'm just saying meritocracy is a farce

- TheThrill

just like the many instances in the past (not just the Leafs) injuries make for opportunities.

I don't think too many should question Leivo, Kozun and Percy having done enough to make the team- while none of Booth, Frattin or Kontiola (in particular Kontiola) have been fairly invisible.

But because of the injuries (I'm actually glad that Talinder got hurt - don't mean anything bad to him personally), but it opens doors for a real test for the young guys. They can't stay with the Marlies/AHL for too long.. otherwise they'll never be able to make the jump to the faster pace.

There can't be much doubt among the managers/coaches as to who has been the most effective of the youngsters.... and now with the injuries the choices really have been made for them.

Holland had another strong game playing 3rd line with stiffs.

Frattin is playing his way off this team.

yes - he absolutely should.

and because of the injuries it makes it easier for the "management minds".

From what I've seen I agree. The Leafs have a chance to go with some young, hungry guys who are outplaying older guys on the bubble. It wouldn't be right to send guys down if they have shown they deserve to be on the team.
- TML60

Teams that keep the young hungry guys ( ie. Ottawa a couple years ago - due to injuries ) seem to play way better than keeping a couple vets who don't give 2 (frank)s IMO
