The good news... we can draft a qb in the first round... oh wait.. no we can't. oh well.

Pegula is on a shorter leash with the Bills than with the Sabres. In the past 10 years I have seen 4 playoff appearances by the Sabres, with a few series wins.

With the Bills, nothing.

If there is any consolation that can be taken with the current Bills situation, the fact that Tom Brady is getting close to retiring, Geno Smith is horrible, and Ryan Tannehill is about average at best, makes the playing field pretty even in the upcoming years.

This is more of a "how time flies observation" than a "state of the Sabres" observation, but the 2006 playoff run will be 9 years ago this spring.

The defense has been outstanding against the run, and has been okay, though not stellar, against the pass so far. That's a recipe for winning games late in the season. If they can figure out a way to look competent on offense again, they're not out of it even this year.

As was pointed out to me yesterday, though, Makarov's issue has always been consistency.

True, but he didn't come into a situation with the Bills that had such long tenured coaches/front office like the Sabres. Hopefully stuff can move a lot quicker.

Why, what's wrong with it? Only inside info I have doesn't have anything to do with a re-vamp, so nothing to pass on.

The Sabres made the playoffs the year he took over ownership. They weren't mired in a 14 year playoff drought.

And I don't hate what Whaley has done. He's brought in a lot of talent. They just missed the mark with a QB. But EJ isn't the first QB to get drafted and not produce. It happens.

I'm not going to make assumptions on what Pegula will do though, because we have no clue. I would think that he's learned from the mistakes he's made with the Sabres. But we'll have to wait and see.
