not saying he is an exceptional qb but yes orton. seriously how could this offense be any worse? ej has struggled with accuracy BADLY. Many of the receivers he misses are wide open. Then there is the fact that he cant throw the ball to a guy that is covered. Have you ever seen ej make that kind of throw? i know i havent. You have to have a quarteback that can trust his receivers enough to "make them" open.

having said all that i like the way our defense has played and our running backs. Our receivers have done a good job of getting open, but like sbroads said earlier we need to involve them more like mike williams and get them down field more. many of our passing plays are 4 yard curls and screens (this is on the OC) but some of its due to the fact that ej isnt trusted enough.

He can make those throws and has. His td pass to stevie against the pats last year comes to mind. People have developed this ridiculous standard that every rookie qb is supposed to light the league on fire. Thats rare. Even luck has had his growing pains and he was the best qb prospect since manning. We already know what orton is. He isnt going to get this team anymore wins. Ej has the tools. We have no 1st next year so its unlikely we improve at that position next year. I believe we need to take a qb in the second next year but theres no telling who will be left. Like it or not this team isnt going anywhere without a qb. Ej is young might as well let him see if he can get it together or not. Its not like we have many options.

agree to disagree i guess, just dont see the tools like you do. On another note i dont see why drafting a qb in the 2nd or 3rd round (or trade up) is such a bad idea

This team is set at alot of positions so we definitely should. Bring in another young qb to compete and we'll have to see where it goes.

Was a really nice play to, batted down a pass from Hodgeson and just sent it into the net, we need more play like that from him.

Grigo making a case again for a spot on the final roster. You got to admit, that besides maybe Ristolainen, there is no one who seems to have improved more than Grigo.

its really up in the air for me of which spot id rather see him; buffalo or rochester. Hes definitely proven he deserves to be here over someone like reinhart though. i suppose we could put him at 3rd line between stewart and foligno? With ennis and big z being our 1 and 2 centers

I dont think he is cut out for a third line role. I would imagine if he makes the team he will be the second line center and girgs will play third line. I predicted before the preseason that our forwards would be:
Moulson, Ennis, Stafford
Hodgson, Grigorenko, Stewart
Foligno, Girgensons, Gionta
Larsson, Mitchell, Flynn
McCormick, Kaletta

I think Deslaurier will make it over Larsson. But other than that I am sticking with it.

thats true you make a good point. I really like mitchell as our 4th line center, he seems to have great control with the puck and defensively sound. Ive also liked the play of deslaurier so far and i think hes going to make the team as well. I have no problem with that lineup. Heres the point i may bring up though, should we leave grigs down in rochester so that we establish a "winning culture" with our young prospects or do we let him play up here and suffer in the rebuild?
