I completely agree, I didn't mean to make it seem like a personal attack on the guy just tired of all the trade talk.
- Carubba-Kaleta

SOMEONE is going at the deadline this year. Just as much as you don't want to "Trade everybody" I also would like to see a few get us the best return we can get. It's GOING to happen. What are we going to do? Trade Luke Adam for Sidney Crosby? Hey, keep Stafford, trade Stewart. Keep 'em both, trade someone else, It's not personal to me either. We actually need to make room for players in Rochester as well as stagger our salary cap so it works from year to year. I'm pretty sure TM had a plan when he sought Stewart out. It was either, "you're getting your last chance, kid, show me what you got" or "Its a contract year and I'm going to get as much for this kid as I can..."

I don't think they should trade any one at this point unless it's an over payment. We can't have all prospects just being gifted spots on an nhl team cause they will never know the value of hard work. we need them to earn their spots and take the jobs of these vets not just be forced into the lineup cause their isn't a better option.

opinions vary like everyone says around here but you bring up the point of the salary cap. who are we really paying that we need to make room for? im curious

edit: the reason i trade them is if they dont want to sign here next year so i dont lose them for nothing so i agree with you there.

Its very possible one or both of them are traded. It's also very possible both are resigned. Stewart, Stafford, Moulson and Gionta are the vets on the team up front. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Ennis or Hodgson moved and a guy like Foligno on his way out. You don't have to make room for the guys in Rochester, they need to earn their way here. If you can have a Stafford and or Stewart in 2-3 years as your 2nd and 3rd line wingers your team is looking pretty good.

What has Foligno done to earn a spot here? Serious question. The reason he is in the NHL was he would hit anything that moved all the time and went to the dirty areas of the ice. Now its every 5 games before he hits someone. The worst thing that happened to his career was putting up 12 points in 13 games.

I can rephrase "making room for guys in Rochester to "making room for guys in Rochester that earn it," but you get the jist.
I think both in Stafford and Stewarts case, we have two players that have had "issues" but seem to be turning it around. But then again, they're professionals making good money, so may be they should have figured it out all ready. TM doesn't seem like a real compassionate guy when it comes to players that make promises but don't have a great track record of consistency. Some people want to see Foligno go for the same reason, but the counter is that he's cheap and he's only 22....Hodgson? we needed a capable center BAAAAD when we traded him....but I also wonder about his future. Doesn't really seem like a TM guy. I'm definitely not going to back down from my statement that guys are going to get traded. I think who goes is going to give us more insight in to what TM is looking for in style of player.

He's just my favorite player (along with Girgs) so I'd love to keep him in a 3rd/4th line role, and for Ennis I just think it would be better to keep him over the others. Also wasn't Foligno playing injured for a portion of last season?

I think the fact that TM traded for guys like Deslauriers, Carrier, and Fasching shows you that he wants bigger players. Something Foligno was supposed to be but better. Hodgson IMO is the most likely non pending UFA to be dealt.

Stewart and Stafford have that consistency issue looming over their heads but its more coming from a fan base not the general manager and the coach.

Stafford and Stewart are 20 goal scoring 45 pt per year players with a little bit of grit to their games. IF their effort is good their points will come. It all comes down to that. If they show they want it at least one will be resigned here.

Being your favorite is one thing but being a good hockey player is another. But again what exactly has he done to show he should be here? 50pts in 135 games? There are better options IMO

I'm willing to give Foligno more time.

The dysfunction of the organization makes me want to give some of the younger players more time
