I agree that most of these predictions could come to fruition except 2 of them . (1) I don't buy that Howard is an elite goalie and attribute his stats to the team defense Detroit plays. (2) I believe this years Rangers team is not as good on paper as last year's and think they will take a step back and finish 4th in the Metro. - Crushers68
Wings D has been mediocre since Lidstrom retired...

So I've heard. That game has so much potential if they fixed a few things. The lag and phantom hits in multiplayer suck as well as all the hackers. If they added like a 5v5 team deathmatch arena that would be awesome or a mode similar to Zombies in COD where you team up with 4 or 5 people and destroy wave after wave until you all die. |

It's tough isn't it? You don't want to root against your team, you want the playoffs badly but at the same time you know deep down what the better option long term is.
At any rate, It wouldn't shock me to see a team at say 9th pick win the lottery this year.
Recent history suggests if you want the #1 pick don't finish last - Sabresfan-365

In order of plausibility, I'd go:
Meltzer (Rangers 1st)
Chiasson (Tavares 100 pts)
Stuart (Jackets win playoff rounds)
Wilson (Sabres not last)
French (McDonagh norris)
Cordell (Howard vezina finalist)
Tanner (Kadri star player) - Streit2ThePoint
Rangers 1st? Nope.
Tavares injury free? Maybe 95 pts
Jackets should make playoffs. After that how can you know.
Ottawa might be last but Sabres are close.
McDonough won't win Norris. Not in that league yet ("but but but 10 pts in conf finals! Subban only 2!!! Only 2!" Yeah I believe he got 7 or 8 of those points in two games including the garbage first game where New York got gifted PP's for wiping out Price. Good for him.
Howard for vezina? Sure, if the top 8 goalies in the league all play like garbage or are hurt for half the year.
Kadri turning into the muslim superstar? First, I thought he was Lebanese and Christian? Second, he will be fortunate to put up 40+ points.
This article was just MASSIVE CLICK BAIT/FLAMEWAR stuff. I understand why you would make it, but it really does seem like 90% of this is extremely unlikely.
I'll add my own. Islanders make playoffs and rangers will be fighting for wildcard until the last day. |

You do realize that teams will only start their backup goaltenders against the Rangers as a precaution to Kreider, right? 1st is practically locked up. |

It's not clickbait if it openly admits they're bold predictions. if it was titled "Hockeybuzz Hot Stove Totally Believably and Probably Probable Predictions", maybe |

I'm grouchy because my RDS Habs games are blackout now in southern Ontario. Thanks Rogers! 6 years of 82 Habs games for $4 a month.... Bitter, bitter I say! |

I do not get all of the Jacket love. Maybe three months ago I would understand it, but now that they are in an ugly contract dispute with their #1 center and their best winger might never play again, shouldn't the enthusiasm be curbed just a little bit?
McDonagh should have been a Norris finalist last year and Tavares was 2nd in the NHL in points and on pace for 92 at the olympic break, so I can see both of those happening. |

BJs are a really deep team still and won last year due to depth and teamwork not individual performance. I agree they're a bit overhyped but by the time the playoffs roll around it's safe to assume RJ will be signed and horton could.be back so they should be formidable in the playoffs. |

Barring an injury, I mean, let's just assume we are both talking about him playing 82 games, then Kadri will come a lot closer to 82 points than 40. The only way he only puts up 40 is if he only plays a half a season.
They asked me to be bold. I dunno, i don't even think this is that bold, there has to be at least a 50% chance he gets a lot of ice time with Kessel and if he doesn't, then he's skating vs second pairing defenseman. I don't even think I went bold enough, lets go 100!

Cool to see Meltzer agrees with me. If anyone has seen my posts, I have been placing Rangers in 1st in the Metro.
I think Tavares could put up 100 points but I am not convinced he is surrounded with enough talent to do so.
Jimmy Howard I do not see ever being a Vezina finalist. Wings D has not been good enough in a long time. Vezina will come down to Rask and Lundqvist.
Kadri is completely possible to emerge as a star but I think it will gradually happen. He will have a better year this year and continue to slowly improve. It is unlikely going to be this season. Maybe next season or the one after.
Sabres don't actually look that bad. Last year Neuvirth got hurt and they really had no goaltending but looking at their roster they could be an ok team.
If Columbus signs Johansen they can win two playoff rounds. Without him they won't make the playoffs. To lose a 60 point guy and 30 goals would be a huge blow to the team.
I don't know if McDonagh will win the Norris. As good as he is I think he will still be passed over by a guy like Chara, Keith, Weber and Doughty.
