He got hurt before, and now a "setback" May well see Laughton start the year in Philly

I didn't get to see Bellemare play one game and he's hurt already?

I'll admit in the one game Umberger played, I really liked what I saw. Slick hands, the ability to watch his point man for possible block shots, he was more feisty then I remember in terms of pushing opposing players. Nice skating ability. I liked Umberger a lot his first go as a Flyer and I felt he got overshadowed by Richards and Carter during each of their rookie seasons but overall, he looks better to me then before. He didn't really have a finish on him his final season here until the playoffs.

I don't think all the credit can be handed to Hextall though. Some of these draft pick are still from Holmgren.

I just don't think Hextall will be as perfect a GM as some might think because of some of these short term signings.

Just for conversation but are their any guys out there that could get waived because of lousey performances or another reason that you would maybe look to take a shot at. Example say Zack Kassian. He is kind of like Pat Maroon where he has some skill but also can play a greasy game.

@billmeltzer 8m
Berube: no chance Bellemare will be ready for Sunday.

EDIT - and @BroadStBull 12m
Bellemare has apparently had a setback. Will not play Sun.

Out of left field, was thinking about "enforcers" and "deterrents." What do you think, if anything, would have happened had Pronger not been injured and played that Game 3 vs. Pittsburgh a few years back? Seemed like his type of game. After Neal threw those hits on Couturier and Giroux, I'm thinking Pronger may have taken a few liberties with Malkin and/or Crosby.

Well, they have Miller and Lack, and TBH, Markstrom has really crapped the bed at the NHL level the past couple seasons.
- Jsaquella

I think they still have Joacim "Sunshine" Eriksson in the system too...

Yes, they do. I don't think Markstrom has really gotten a fair shot yet, and he's only 24. Some goalies don't come into their own until they're older.

I was more thinking a Dean McAmmond-type of play on him.

Really doubt Kassian gets waived. Sestito would go first, I'm guessing.

Here's my list:

ANA Vatanen
ARI Summers
BUF Deslauriers (Hexy should be familiar w/ him)
CHI Morin, Smith, Rundblad
EDM Lander
NYI Donovan
OTT Condra
TB Connolly
VAN Markstrom, Vey (another one of Hexy's boys)

Like your list. Yeah I didn't know with a new coach if Kassain would be his type of player.

Ah, okay. I was just wondering if those were players who were, in addition to who "could."

And yet the Flyers just signed Stortini and traded for Rosehill a year or so ago
- Jsaquella

Doesn't mean they added either player because they feel an enforcer is a deterrant. And if they do, then I disagree with their thoughts on that.

some interesting backup goalie options when one(or both) of our goalies get injured (as usual)..

Jake Markstrom was waived. Prob a Habs goalie (Budaj or Tokarski) will get waived next.. LaBarbera's time is coming to an end with the Ducks. Maybe Dan Ellis (Panther's 3rd), or..how old is Vokoun now? is he in his 40's yet ?
