If you name one, I'll get to that. Name a reliable 2 way sniper.

I just don't get the too one-dimensional angle. There is not a single flyer forward that had 50 takeaways and a plus 7 in 70 games last season... And to add to that the flyers were a better team than Ottawa. Ryan had over 100 hits so its not that he doesn't play physical either. He's a pretty balanced player IMO.
- moylander

He's an offensive player, and that's about all. He can score goals and put up points. But his compete level is average, his play away from the puck is below average. And he doesn't bring many intangibles to the ice. He's simply not the kind of player I'd want to get into a big free agent deal with. Doesn't bring enough to the table.

Well, they have Miller and Lack, and TBH, Markstrom has really crapped the bed at the NHL level the past couple seasons.

Wow, I ask something of you and you both refuse, while asking something of me. Simon Gagne, we'll go with Simon Gagne.

Edit

All I've heard this summer is Lecavalier is done and can't play here because he doesn't play like Rod Brind'amour, like Couturier and Laughton can as possible do in support of Giroux in the bottom nine. Grossmann needs to be cut lose because he can't carry the puck up ice like Drew Doughty. Schenn needs to play center to be effective. Steve Mason should be consider within the same conversation as Johnathon Quick,Henrik Lundqvist and Martin Brodeur in his prime. Samuel Morin is the next Chris Pronger. We shouldn't want Bobby Ryan because he doesn't play like Simon Gagne in his prime. Simmonds, Read and Voracek are all better then Ryan but even Voracek can't crack 25 on a line with Giroux, a player who's managed to come out 3rd in points twice in the last three NHL seasons. I've gotta tell you Ladies and Gentlemen, it's hard to keep up.

Are you referring to my avatar? What does my avatar have to do with the statement I made?

I honestly don't know what the definition of a 'sniper' is. Everyone's interpretation will be somewhat different. 2-way sniper to me sounds like an oxymoron… you'd be called something else if you were truly both… like just superstar or something

I agree but the moment you give up some role players like this and get pushed around, these teams look to enforcers to get tough again. Brian Burke picked up Brad May the moment he noticed the Leafs were getting pushed around and they were. The Red Wings have been probably the most successful team in the NHL for the last 23 years and it doesn't stop them from considering Aaron Downy or Jordan Too Too. Both of which didn't last but I'm willing to bet they'll explore other solutions.

I'm happy the Flyers are going after Bobby Ryan. He's a beast. He'll score 50 with Giroux. No question.

Exactly. Would much rather send those guys to LV and keep a guy like Blair Jones around, who has at least a dime bag full of skill to contribute
