Most Rookie quaterbacks should be holding a clipboard . It is selfish and uneducated of fans to think they can step right in.

I would agree if he isn't the best quarterback on their roster. It's not selfish to demand that your best players be put on the field. That's what they pay to see.

Whether you want to accept it or not . There is a learning curve. Adjustment is needed to the speed of the game especially at the quarterback position . That time on the sidelines learning can lead to a much more productive and longer career . It is selfish to not not look at the long term rather than the short gratification you seem to seek.

Free Agency stupidity . The overinflated contracts that come over the Free Agent frenzy ends up getting GM's fired and franchises stuck with ridiculous over inflated deals for mediocre players.

I think that 1st round QB's should play. Especially if the other option is Chad Henne or Kevin Kolb

Nope , Better short term pain than long term mediocrity.

Where is the proof this is the case.

They aren't 18 year olds like in the NHL.

Some of the best quarterbacks have not started right away and held the clipboard . Learning is not a badge of dishonor . Even if it just a half of a season . Throwing them to the wolves right away is shortsighted and destructive to the players long term success . Maybe some can . But the majority have no business doing so.

Rodgers spent 4 years behind Favre. Not saying that any of our QB's have had the capability that Favre brought, but Rodgers was not rushed and it's turned out great. Sanchez was rushed in, had great success right away getting to the AFC championship 2 years in a row, and is now 2-3 string behind Foles/Barkley.

It's interesting to see. Every player is different and giving the player more time to learn is never a bad thing. It should give them the itch to want to win the spot. Look at the QBs behind Brees. I bet they could be starters on a bad team.

So all the football minds in other organizations have no clue compared to the posters on a hockey fan board ? Good to Know.

All the football minds?

So what about Luck? Manning? Countless others that started day 1. Matt Ryan? Please tell me how mediocre they are.

Considering how many bone headed moves we see in just about any sport, it's not inconceivable to think that someone here with enough intelligence and knowledge of football, hockey, basketball etc could be right about something that those "football minds" may have ignored or missed.

There's a big difference between Favre and Chad Henne.

Favre was better than Rodgers for the first few years. Favre gave them a better chance to win

If a player has it, he has it. Playing a guy "too early" might delay the process a little bit, but if a player ultimately fails, it's because he never had the mental makeup to succeed in the first place.

#1 or 2 picks . exceptions to the rule . You cannot compare a later 1st rounder to them . There is a reason they went at the top . But to expect that from any quarterback is ridiculous .

All those football minds must be wrong . Owners of Fantasy teams that have not seen a football field up close since their high school glory days are wiser . Glad you straightened that out for me !

Wilson was an exception because he was older and a lot more intelligent . Flacco may have a ring , but I have never considered him exceptional . As I have stated and you fail to recognize . There are exceptions but they are not the norm . Even Dan Marino held a clipboard his first half a season as did John Elway . They seemed to work out okay.

Point is, he was never "ruined" by being "thrown to the wolves" too early. He's turned out just fine. He isn't an elite quarterback, and he was never going to be an elite quarterback, no matter how many years he was holding a clipboard, and no matter who he was holding it behind.

There are plenty of people who turned out okay holding the clipboard first. There are also plenty of players who turned out okay playing right away.

Like I said the great football minds in here are way more informed. So Jacksonville is messing up as is Houston even though the head coach there helped mold Tom Brady . Good to know.
