He's better period. The sample size with Weber is too big. He's done improving at 27 years old, he is what he is. A below average player with a below average hockey IQ.

They do. But if Weber suffers from a "confirmation bias" then so does Drew Stafford. Difference is Stafford has put up numbers that are those of a good hockey player.

You are right though, stats for the 13-14 Sabres are misleading to the point of meaningless

Based on sbroads opinion - which doesn't vary from mine in this matter. I think he gives the team a better chance to win night in and night out. I agree w Pachla that other teams have seen enough video on Enroth to know how to beat him.

Do you think differently?

My take on Weber.. He is the Matt Freaking Ellis of Defencemen . Nothing flashy. But can get the job done at times. From what I heard he IS the leader out there (not by example) Even though he has made a bunch of screwy mistakes and possibly still will. I'm hoping he can turn it around and be the guy we thought he could be (potential). I will give him another season since last season the whole team sucked wind.

Hat-

I am a fan of Mike Weber, too. I think Mike gets unfairly harsh treatment around here. I wonder if it's because his game is more of an "eyeball test" style, rather than a stat sheet style. Lots of what Mike does well never gets recorded on the stat sheet.

On the other hand, nobody can quarrel with those embarrassing moments that seem to involve him too often. Those all seem to be things that are captured in the game data.

Anyway, I think he's a guy I want on this team. There I said it.

Weber is what he is.

A 5-7th defenseman that should never see the ice for more than 14 mins a night.

That scares me

I have heard the same, that he's very vocal and is willing to do any and everything to help win

IF (big if at this point) he can limit the dumb penalties and limit the mistakes, he's fine in that 6-7 role.

I'm not saying I disagree but not sure I agree either. Flip a coin. I really think they will end up playing within 5-8 games of each other, providing neither gets hurt.

Enough video on Enroth to know how to beat him? Neuvirth has played 3,000 more minutes than Enroth, so by that logic why isn't there more than enough video to know how to beat Neuvirth?

He put up good numbers on a Washington that is less than stellar defensively.

Him staying healthy is the key.

He stays healthy and you have a guy that is in that 8-15 range.

Hold the puck and wait for Enroth to drop to his knees faster than a street walker in Atlantic city. Lift said puck, lamp lights up.

Shoot 5 hole if he doesn't drop.

It isn't about the number of minutes. It's what you find when you watch the minutes. When Enroth goes butterfly, he leaves a lot of the net empty.

I am not a fan of mike weber. IMO at his best he is adequate. He is unnoticeable at his best and those times seem to come far and few between. I know the saying that if u don't notice a dman he is playing his position perfectly but how bout noticing a dman for making a brilliant breakout pass or winning a lot of corner battles or forcing the fowards offsides by holding the blue line or a good offensive zone keep in or slowing the pace of the game down so we can breakout. In conclusion mike webers best contribution is he is a nice guy and gets beat up a lot.

yeah but , but, but Enroth just shut out the pretend Hurricanes. Youre saying that doesn't mean his going to win the Vezina?
