Yep...looking forward to seeing him and Hanifan

Me too. I got tickets this past weekend to see McDavid next month too. It'll be nice to get to see both of them in person before either of them have been drafted.

I hear ya, schultzie...murray didn't bring trade for him and use that quote to have him sit on the bench...not sure what they have up their sleeve...methinks trading enroth's a strong possibility when Hackett is returns

I like the way you think.

But you're starting to type like the other guy in the corner.

Seems like a solid lineup that will work hard and learn, that's what we expect.
- SABRES 89

any way you slice it, there's no real depth on this team, 89...no depth, little scoring, imo

Neuvirth will be #1 by January.

Book it.

Spot on Schultzie! Neuvirth reminds me of Dominic Hasek in the early years here...one can only wish we see the reincarnation.

Just finished reading that, I was about to post it. I know Pat from the CAZ hockey playing days.

He was pretty riled up on twitter arguing with Buffalo Bloggers who have it out for Nolan. What he says in the article is 100% true. Advanced stats aren't going to help you figure out if a young kid makes a boneheaded play and learns from it or bounces back shortly after.

Like I have said numerous times. Advanced stats are a useful tool but it can't be the only tool in the shed or you are in trouble.

I just want hockey to watch hockey once again.
I don't want to argue .
I don't want to debate why I think Mike Weber is a very good 5th, 6th defenseman.
I just want to watch our Buffalo Sabres and dream about a Stanley Cup one day.
I have to say that I think just about everyone that posts here on Mike's blogs has a very good understanding about hockey.
And Buffalo Sabres hockey for that matter.
We all sometimes just may have a different view.
Here's to y'all and posting for another season with some pretty knowledgeable fans here.
Enjoy the season y'all.

So weird that they are too.

And again, It's not Nolan building the team. If Murray refused to use them I would be skeptical, but I trust that Nolan can tell whether someone like Risto is ready or not

I am not a Nolan basher. But not using a tool is not good. The eye test might say Bryan Flynn works hard but advanced stats helps tell you what that hard work resulted in. Just because you look like your skating hard means nothing. look at a guy like ovechkin. Many of times he fails an eye test. But his numbers are nuts

I hope so, my only concearn is Nolan has this false sense of earning it. Talented players can play in this league without mucking in ahl. Its a place where I develop my 4-6 def and my 3rd and fourth line. Reason way to many goons looking to make a name for themselves.

The best part is one of these bloggers is a HUGE Flynn fan and the other one is a huge Dixon Ward fan whose career was rejuvenated under Nolan.

A coach doesn't need to use advanced stats to figure out who to put on the ice at certain points in a game. He uses his eyes to figure out how the game has been going who has been playing well and who hasn't.

Nolan isn't building the team he is coaching it.

Thomas Vanek needed the AHL so did Derek Roy and Jason Pomminville.

Danny Briere needed the AHL

EVERY player develops differently.
