Giroux has got thru six NHL seasons without being hurt by anyone but Wayne Simmonds when he accidentally kneed him in the head. Dial down the paranoia.
- Feanor

He'll Giroux was hit every shift in the playoffs, if an enforcer is such a great deterrent, why not dress him in the playoffs? Why wasn't Rinaldo running Stepan or Nash?

Because good players get excited when they see a guy who can't play out against them.

Crosby's out either way... I'll take the 5 goals versus the satisfaction of teaching Rosehill a lesson.
- Tomahawk

So if, say, Adams goes and breaks Giroux's leg with a 2-hander, we just take our 5 minute PP and be happy about it?

Preseason is a whole different animal, JS. You know that. There's no line matching yet, players have linemates they'd never have in a RS game. There are more fights, etc., because there are more fringe players trying to get noticed.

No doubt
To go into a preseason game without having a couple guys that can throw em in your lineup is not a real good idea.

Why trade an asset for a 7th rounder if it could be worth a 3rd rounder in a year or two? Or if he can return and play a solid role for the team?

Rafael Diaz is a legitimate NHL player. He had to sign a PTO to go to a NHL camp. Teams were not beating his door down, either. Because he's a small, third pair guy, very similar to Gustafsson.

We don't know if the Flyers got offers for Gus, because he signed with the KHL before the season really ended. So to say there was no interest may not be correct.

It wasn't about hardball, Gus wanted to play. He knew he wouldn't here and then he got a good KHL offer and playing time. He just did what was best for him to play.

- Jsaquella

it could be worth what you say though it also cound be worth nothing do you agree?

you seem to think he is a legit nhl top 6 dman. i do not.

You really need to get another list together. This isn't working for you. How about a list of guys you've seen in the preseason who you thought had a good shot at an NHL job but never amounted to anything.

Not paranoid. Just stating that people will sing a different tune if something like that would happen. I am not for or against the enforcer but if he is the 13th forward i am ok with that. i would rather rosehill take his shift and run at someone if that is what is needed then Simmonds.

He's going to do it if he's going to do it, whether Rosehill's in the lineup or not... unless there are precogs like in Minority Report to stop him before he does it, Giroux's toast either way.

Can cry about it, waste energy extracting your pound of flesh, or use it as an opportunity to seize the game/series.

But (and I'm not advocating this) if you have a Rosehill or Rinaldo in the lineup who will go out and injure Crosby in retaliation, it may not happen to begin with. Disagree?

I'm speaking more in general over the course of a season. Obviously the preseason will been more akin to an AHL game because in general guys who are fighting for spots tend to be, well, fighters
