The post you replied to referred to his minutes which you said it was Snow's fault due to the lack of depth. - Cptmjl
I wasn't referring to that. My point was whether it was misusing him with 30 minutes a night or picking another player that shouldn't have been on the ice, the other defense guys didn't change when he left, so whatever they chose to do with spreading his minutes after he was gone, should have happened with him there. I do agree that the players they had were not good options but neither was AMac on the ice for 25 more minutes than he should have been |

This board is so predictable its hilarious - Vukota
lol, in fairness, I did post in my comments that preseason games mean squat and halak looked disinterested I would expect that to change for the regular season games.

They've had just as many preseason games as practices so far. Lets wait until the full team we expect to see out there two weeks from tonight plays together before the sky is falling routine sets in yet again - Vukota
The sky isn't falling bud nor do I think it is. This is a hockey thread. I don't see anything wrong with writing a post referring to our coach and how he seems to be handling camp/preseason with the team that this thread is about. I find it pretty ridiculous that one of our biggest weaknesses was special teams last season and they haven't practiced them yet 3 games into the preseason when camp began when? You don't find that a little strange? The teams captain was quoted as saying that special teams weren't great. Why is this such a taboo conversation for you when it's pretty relevant being that the team is in camp right now and it's an obvious topic? I get you don't want to hear anything that you deem as negative lately but this is a hockey thread about the Islanders. It's not all rainbows and butterflies all the time.
I get that it's preseason. I've been watching the game for a long time I understand the importance or lack there of for these games but I don't understand how discussing our coach or anything that may be misconstrued as negative for that matter when there was a game last night(preseason or not)somehow eludes to me thinking the "sky is falling"?

Cappy simply doesn't get it. He uses guys completely wrong. He had Regin as a top 2 line forward for majority of year. He overplayed Nabakov till he got injured. He had Andy MacDonald logging 30 mins a night.
When isles are losing he cant adjust. also when they winning and the opposing coach makes adjustment, Cappy lacks a Plan B.
he thinks his PP and PK systems are excellent and always has one scapegoat players he calls out. The reality is we were 0-5 on PP last night and opposing team scored 3 PP goals. that's why we lost. Plain and simple.
Also if Cappy coaches us to a 0-15 November, Guess what, we miss playoff again. - Spartiarti

I think the beginning week or 2 of camp is spent on the basic philosophy of whatever system is going to be put in place as well as conditioning. No need to focus on special teams too much outside a very broad idea of how to run a pp and how to hold a formation on the pk when theres 40-something players around imo. |

No, I know. I wasn't trying to pick on him for it. Just saying depth or not, Cappy over used the wrong D man for way too long. |

You may be right? There was a cut already though. I'd think special teams would be a pretty viable part of player evaluation from the get go? I could be wrong I've never coached an NHL team before. |

Taboo? huh?? That's not true. I just don't think a week into camp is a fair amount of time to compare to last year. You keep saying 3 games into preseason like they have been in camp for a month already. They have played 3 games and practiced how many times 3? So after 3 practices they should be on top of their game as far as PP & PK go? I just find it comical and not surprising at all that after a preseason loss the negativity is flowing at mid season form. You are free to talk about anything you want you're right its a message board, just like I am no? |

Just seems to me that they would still be focusing on conditioning and fundamentals. Would waste a lot of energy and time going over special teams with everyone still remaining in camp when a lot of them are gonna end up getting cut anyway. I dont think AV has gone over the PP or PK much outside the general idea of how he wants it to be run. |

We are stuck in bizarro world with Cappy being defended. This is still the same coach who made one playoff right? |

I'm not defending cappy but he was using some players in those roles because he had no other viable options which points to the GM. Their is plenty to work on but i could care less about the results of a preseason game. What's more important is nobody got hurt - Dan Petriw
How so Dan? Cappy waited till December to use Clutterbuck (a known great PKer and one reason we got him from Minn). Also What business did Peter Regin (who plays on 4th line in Chi) have playing top 2 lines.
Nielsen, Grabner, Cizikas, Clutterbuck and now Grabovski are are best PK options. how as fans do we get it immediately and he still hasn't figured it out.

Absolutely as far as the bold. "Negativity flowing in midseason form" is something I don't get though? I get that it's preseason just discussing what I've seen so far with the small sample size. My earlier post about picking up were we left off last season was obviously heavily laden with sarcasm. |

I'd think that would probably include practicing it just in case that rare power play happens in a preseason game? No? |
