I'm expecting him to be physical and get under the other team's skin. Not to score points, but to be noticeable. He hasn't been very noticeable.

He hasn't been bad, but he hasn't looked like a guy that Berube or Hextall is going to say, "there's no way we can keep him off this team", at least not the two games I've watched.

He's busted his tail and been very solid overall, but I wanted him to come in and kick down the door and make it hard , if not impossible for the Flyers to send him to Allentown

I get you. And as Bill said I think they were already planning on him in LHV. I thought Akeson struggled a little last night. Seemed to try and make some low percentage plays. Not terrible but just something i noticed. I have been impressed with Alt. He skates well, has size and seems to make smart plays with the puck.

Morin looks good. Better than Grossmann so far IMO (from what I have seen, didnt watch all games or all of last nights game either)... Just sayin....

How about if we play Morin in the regular season in the same situations that Gorssmann plays in and see if he's better then Grossmann is? I have no doubts that Morin has the potential to be a much better player in the future then Grossmann is. But not now, he's not ready.

You see... they do it so the average fan doesnt notice what really is going on.

Listen I like Grossmann or LIKED Grossmann. But injuries are catching up to him and his time as a Flyer I feel wont be much longer than this season.

The Flyers would ratherl et Alt play if Grossmann can't instead of throwing Morin in. We have a gm that excersies patients finally and now we want him throwing our D prospects right into the show.

Then id sooner go with Alt. Morin is nowhere near NHL ready.

Grossmann is Grossmann. Still a solid defensive defenseman.

Would'nt be the first time. Honestly I say one of the D prospects needs to play next season. Whoever is most ready.

If you had the choice. Would you play any of the following.... Morin, Sanheim, Ghost, Hagg OR would you play Schultz?? As a call up....

Who looks dreadful so far BTW

That is fine. Alt can play then. Morin and Sanheim can go back to junior to refine there games a little more. Haag and Ghostibere can play big minutes in the AHL. I don'tsee a problem

I play Alt. Or even Manning if Schultz is really struggling and we need a dman.

Pretty much everyone struggled last night. I want to see Akeson in the lineup, in the role that he might play, with as close to an NHL lineup as possible. When he can be a secondary offensive option, rather then one of the top offensive players in a depleted lineup against a stronger opponent. I think that would give a more realistic look at the player. I want Akeson to make the team.

I have come around on Akeson because he might be a guy that can get Vinny the puck. It was just something I noticed last night. I realize the roster was what it was and agree with you.

Here are my thought on some on the regulars and some prospects.

Voracek - Looks faster and lighter on his feet. Ready to grab the bull by the horns.

VL - Looks in a lot better shape than last year and healthier.

Streit - even without his 4 points he was amazing. Good defense and awesome first passes and clean passes out of the zone.

Rinaldo - A bit disappointed. He needs to get back to what got him here.

Raffl - Looks like he put a lot of work in on working away from the puck and well as faster.

Schenn/Del Zotto - Looked great monday for the most part, last night i think was a combination of back to backnights while playing with mostly rookies against a pretty solid Leafs line up

Coburn - Looks a bit rusty but they all do

Umberger - Made some nice plays that kept possesion that Hartnell just would have shot from a bad angle or turned it over. Supported the puck very nicely and seems to still be a decent skater.

Akeson - I think hes trying to hard. Made a few Hartnell blind cross ice passes last night I didn't like.

Ghost - very fluid and great shot. If he makes a bad play he recovers very quickly

Hagg - Physical and smart. He doesn't try to do things he knews he shouldn't be doing. Keeps it simple and to the point.

Sanheim - Very impresed by his play. Yeah some little things went wrong, but recovered quick and is learning from his mistakes

Hextall - was noticable. didn't make any huge blunders from what I saw but he made his presence felt and created a few turnovers off of his checking.

Overall I am inpressed considering that both teams have a good mix of players on them. I think it was smart having Ghost and Sanheim watch and play with Streit. Learning how to be an offensive defensemen from a guy like Streit is not a bad deal.

Akeson can play 3rd line with Vinny no problem.

I would want either of these lines for the 3rd.

no one did that up in Canada....only Stortini really showed what we can expect to see night in and night out in the regular season....unfortunately.
- landros 2

I think several guys played well. Alderson, Cousins, Bellemare, Rinaldo all looked good.

Stortini is awful. He's willing to fight, but he's not good at it and he sucks as a player

What is the point of a guy like Stortini at the AHL level? To fight for the enjoyment of the fans? I don't like that a guy like him is employed at the minor league level vs. someone that can actually be productive there. I can't wait until the enforcer era is completely dead.

Well you need to be more specific in your question. What dman do you need to replace? If it is Del Zotto or Striet then I would probably go with Ghostisere. Grossmann or Coburn I probably go with Haag or Alt.

Should be interesting to see how his offense progresses in Juniors this year. He'll be 19 and likely the PP quarterback. If he's going to make a jump in offense, this would be the year

I dont mind the enforcers. Brashear was an enforcer but he skated well and was decent along the boards and the forecheck. His main reason for being on the roster was to bash skulls in though.

If everyone is healthy I think this is how the roster starts in Boston

Schenn - Giroux - Voracek
Read - Couturier - Simmonds
Umberger - Vinny - Akeson
Raffl - Ballemare - Rinaldo

Coburn - MacDonald
Grossmann - Streit
Schenn - Del Zotto
