I think he's on par with where Reimer was when he was the up-and-coming stud goalie in the system.

Eventually, the kid's play has to fall down to earth, right?

- TheThrill

Its all about regression to the mean.

Fancy stats tell us so

He's the same goalie. Big, fairly athletic, needs to work on rebounds. Plays on confidence, which is very high right now.

Id like to get down to the MCC to watch him more closely.

The crazy thing is, we get these new faces playing well and last year's darlings get lost in the shuffle.

Everyone's swinging on Nylander's sack right now, and the person benefitting the most from it is Rielly, who doesn't have to be "that guy" anymore.

In terms of Marlies goaltending, Bibeau is all the rage. However, Sparks is a pretty damn good goalie and those two could easily take the Marlies deep into a Calder run. Especially if #62 stays in NA

he just seems calmer, not battling against himself so much like Reimer does.

Yeah I know, there isn't really any rhyme or reason to it or any sort of correlation between pre-season and regular. I'm just in thick of the Blue and White disease right now.

I'm super glad Hockey's back, but I just know my heart will be ripped out by the end.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are literally a first-hand trip through the stages of manic-depression

- TheThrill

Probably, but you should be use to it.
Just enjoy it game by game....dont get ahead of yourself....and remember from now until March 7th.....it simply doesnt matter where in the standings the leafs are. Cause come March 7th if they are in a playoff spot....they could collaspe in the remaining 17 games and play themselves out...or if they are already out of the playoffs, they'll go on a bit of a run to play themselves out of a high draft pick.
Save all emotion until April 12th.

This is the benefit of having more than one real prospect. When we drafted Schenn, I knew he never had a chance in this market.

I really like Sparks and his competitive nature. I was at Camp the day he was cut last year. While the rest of the players scrimmaged, he was behind the glass pretending to stretch etc but couldnt keep his eyes off the ice. He looked so pissed/crushed.

Absolutely. He certainly seems good so far, but he did have some bad numbers in junior before getting onto a good team.

I know that I don't want him in the big show for a few years at least.

Considering how little he costs, it would be pretty dumb to trade him.

Get rid of Lupul instead.

Goalies are so hard to predict. But this kid has been on fire for a while now. It's pretty crazy.

Just needs to put on some muscle, maybe fifteen pounds. Focus on building his legs and core so that he doesn't get so easily knocked off. He should look at Crosby as an example of how a smaller player should build up to be effective. Crosby is only 5'10 but no (frank)er knocks him off the disc... Apart from Steckel

That's the thing. Let's keep in mind, he wasn't even a standout in the Q until this year's playoffs.
