Guy in the middle is perfect. I can't stand how hypersensitive our society is, but even I was a bit surprised to see that in a major newspaper
- bezz44

according to tsn1040 it was the photographers note on the digital image when it was sent to the paper. He shouldn't have put that in, wasn't needed but, the editor should have caught it.

Very true no description was needed as he is the guy in the middle. I am not as sensitive but apparently my ignorance has no bounds.

Vey and Richardson have the 3rd and 4th line center roles locked up IMO, not sure where Horvat fits with so many possible bottom six guys?

Matthias, Higgins, Hansen, Richardson, Vey, Dorsett, Sestito & Horvat??

- LeftCoaster

Horvat will be no where near the canucks roster come opening night. I didn't think he played all that well and his skating and physicality needs a lot of work. Slow to the puck, slow off the puck, and easily separated from the puck. He looked so small next the the San Jose Giants.

I hope Willie goes all super nova and tries storming the Flames locker room.

They've already baracaded it off with a giant concrete wall with Torts smiling on it.

Not possible.

It appears as though Botch disagrees with you, for the record, I didn't/couldn't watch the game.

". Horvat is in ridiculous shape.

It took the Young Stars tournament, five days in Whistler and most of Tuesday’s preseason opener, but when Horvat showed up, he showed up like a tank would.

Horvat scored the winner 11:33 into the third. A nice enough play. But it was what he did next that was probably the most impressive thing any Canuck did on the night.

Following the goal, his next two shift were doubles, 1:32 and 1:40, in which he was mowing down everything in sight.

Horvat was buzzing around the net on both and had opportunities to add another goal, if not two.

“The weight went off my shoulders with (the goal),” Horvat said. “I felt like I had iron lungs after that.”

Playing like that at the end of a game is a pretty good sign."

I was at the game (people in my old section offered me tickets) and we all focused on Horvat. He was blah until the 3rd period were he picked up his game but boy was he outplayed by most of the SJ players (who most won't even make the SJ roster).

Not impressed so far, but the preseason has just begun and I'm sure nerves had some factor.

Botch is gay so he likes all the young studs. But seriously, we saw it differently.

There was a bunch of us at the game who weren't impressed with Horvat's first game but as I said it's only the first game and I'm sure nerves had an effect.

How many times did the twin set up Vrbata with perfect accuracy? Unbelievable. I just hope that Vrbata learns not to hesitate when the puck lands on his stick.

I had to laugh a few times because you could actually see the 'WTF how did they get me the puck' expression on his face after he's miss the goal. He's obviously never played with line mates with this level a skill. If he gets his timing down he have a career year. Easily.

An issue I had with the game presentation.

With all the fancy graphic boards they now have you would think the canucks would display a few stats once and awhile. There was a ton of prospects in the game last night and it would have been nice to know a little bit about them.

The whole world is going statistic crazy so give the public what it wants and less TrainWest Management and Budweiser advertising please.

I thought Horvat played pretty well. He doesn't play a flashy game. I disagree that he looked small. Well, maybe next to a couple of the freaking monsters the Sharks dressed, but Chara would look small next to one of those guys.

Horvat wasn't good enough that he'd be "too good to send down to the minors," but he was good enough that he could make the team as one of the top 12 forwards and contribute in a bottom 6 role.

The question I was left with after the game is simple, would Benning prefer him to play 10 - 12 mins a night in Vancouver next year, or 18 - 22 mins a night in London?

Hi guys,

Nice to see so much discussion now that we really have something to talk about.
