Pete,
Please write an obituary.
Thanks
Rangers Management - tbreinold
Stepan tore his ACL, no doubt.
Edit: 10:52AM: Stepan was clutching his “left leg/knee” and simply fell to the ice. There was no contact that initiated the incident. (Brooks)
Seriously, that doesn't sound good.

all we can do is hope, when McDonagh went down a couple of years ago without a collision it certainly looked like he tore his knee to threads and he was fine, hopefully same thing. - jimbro83
gross says it was during a full ice sprint...possibly a sprain? |

No sense in speculating the severity of the injury. I doubt it's something that will leave him out for a significant period of time. He is an extremely durable player; a non contact injury shouldn't be as damning as what happened to Jordan Staal last night. |

Sucks what happened to Jordan, but the video looks like he did it to himself. |

yea, but it's unusual. non-contact injuries always are, i guess. makes them more speculative |

I hope you're right but I've always felt as though non contact injuries are scarier. He was clutching his knee and needed help getting up so I'm assuming the worst right now. |

Oh for sure but speculation also makes one nuts; especially in a situation that has so many levels or degrees of severity. |

quite easy... usually its from a dislocated ankle or a hairline fracture from locking a shot etc
And yea the timetable is all up in the air. When i broke mine, it healed relatively quickly with the plate that's in it, its the ankle that took longer.. hopefully he heals quickly |

This is just terrible, Hayes will more than likely stay with the team, put him between Kreider and Nash and that will be one big line |

If it is a displaced fracture you are probably right.
Also, if there was damage to the ankle besides the fracture, that would also add some time. |

Could be a result of the foot contusion...probably has to be. Cant see him breaking his leg just from his power skating without a pre-existing hairline fracture or dislocation as you said. |

It looks like it was initially injured by the shot he blocked, and then when he put pressure on it.... crackkkk. Gross says it was the same spot.
I feel like this could have been avoided if they did a better job diagnosing the original injury. |

sometimes its hard to see.. A buddy of mine cracked his heal off but because of the amount of swelling from the injury, they didn't see it. once the swelling went down, they noticed it. if he really did bang it up bad on the shot block, i assumed the swelling was holding the bone together |

If that amount of time reported is true then yes it won't be that bad. |
