I am a little surprised not to see Shirokov on the list or Anton Rodin. I know they are long gone but We Are All Canucks.

Doesn't matter tho....deep prospect pools don't win championships, NHL Players do, so I kind of find it it hilarious when people say their NHL organization is better because they have more prospects. How about have a great team and a deep pool is a bonus?
Sadly the Oulers have neither....

- Jeropotato

You're right, having more prospects doesn't win you anything - but I think you do need to develop a quality prospect pool in order to produce the kind of quality core of drafted players that most good teams are built on. If you look at Chicago and Los Angeles as probably the top two NHL teams in recent years, you've got drafted cores of Kopitar/Doughty/Quick/Brown and Toews/Kane/Seabrook/Keith... all of whom are players that have been vital to their team's success, and very seldom ever become available via trade or free agency. Also, the ability of those teams to cycle in quality young players like Saad/Shaw or Toffoli/Voynov allows them to remain competitive when they have to start shedding secondary players for salary cap reasons.

Of course, that also assumes an awful lot of very good scouting and development, which isn't the same thing as just having a lot of prospects... which is another way that good teams can set themselves apart.

"Corrado had a solid rookie season in the AHL, not quite Esplen saviour levels"

- A_SteamingLombardi

Remember when I said him and Jesse Blacker were essentially the same prospect?

Good times. You bums lost your marbles.

Oh look I was right!

True enough, you guys own the majority share of overage selected QMJHL players over 5'9. It's quite the accomplishment.
- AdamFrench

Speaking of overage QMJHL draftees, what's your opinion of Grenier, he had a decent first year in the AHL, I don't understand why he didn't get a call up last year.

Nonsense, Blacker was traded thus demonstrating his low value in the eyes of the TML brass. If he held the same value, skill and potential of Corrado he would have never been moved.

What do you mean? B level prospects like Blacker and Corrado are traded all the time. He was traded for a centre, which was much needed at the time.

Anyone else think Eddie lack will be shipped out. If Markstrom is as good as Mellanson is saying Im willing to bet Eddie goes for two reasons one Cheaper for longer Markstrom will be and two lack is worth more as a trade piece maybe a 2nd or 3rd. Anywhoo have a good day all

I'll be very disappointed if he is traded just to clear up a roster spot and gain a lottery ticket. Goalies are one of the few things this team has been able to develop, lack IMO will be the better goalie than miller by next year. I fully expect miller to fetch a poor return when we try to move him, but I prefer having lack and a poor return to miller and a poor return

Markstrom was pretty highly regarded.

He was given away for a reason.

Ahhh, but getting rid of the immovable contract was the benefit of the trade in and of itself, at least according to everyone else on HB, which most said could never be done...

Ya, 47 games in the NHL is sort of that magical cut off number where we can decide whether or not someone is a bust or not. It's less than one full season of hockey so it paints the perfect picture of exactly what someone's career trajectory is. Just like how we were all able to see how big of a bust Kadri was after about 47 games when he only had 8 goals in that span. We can only hope Markstrom won't be as big of a bust as Kadri.

I haven't played 47 NHL games yet.

I still have a chance?

Agreed. I prefer more of a Fredrik "franchise 4th line center" Gauthier or lesbian-looking Nylander.
