I thought Laughton worked hard every shift and was noticeable. Cousins had 2 points but I didn't think he really stood out. I thought Akeson was our best all round forward and Luke was very steady in his own end. I would like to see Bellemare play more as I felt he looked pretty good

MDZ was very noticeable to me. Especially on the PP.. Agreed about Akeson..I was impressed.

I can't remember who each of them were playing with but one on one I just thought Laughton was out there working hard ( he didn't play great) but I didnthear Cousins name until midway through the first

I hope Morin plays again tonight as I may be going to the game. I want to see his mean streak which we really didn't see last night. He doesn't have to go out and fight but simply just be more physical along the boards and in front of net

Cousins was with Alderson. I noticed them a lot. Laughton played hard, but didn't seem to be making much of an impact. I don;t think anyone stood out as playing bad, some guys had a rough go, but nobody played out and out bad in the game in London

Another bright spot was how well vinny was skating last night.

And I heard something on the pp I ididn't hear at all last year. "A blast from the point". Man our pp is going to be so much better with a guy with a cannon at the point.

Streit said he wasn't that happy with how he played in the post game interview with Bundy, but he had 4 points.

Sanheim stood out a lot more than Ghost, who made a couple of basic mistakes. I wonder if having to play on the right side is making it more difficult for him.

I watched the game in London on Maple Leafs TV.......overall it looked like the first preseason game....Bellemare has good speed, Raffl looked very good and it does make you wonder if he could be a sleeper if they would just put him somewhere and leave him there. I thought the rookies looked ok...Laughton had some good shifts and looked good on the PP, Morin was steady, a couple of givaways, but made some nice outs as well....he was smart enough not to fight Mclaren....good call kid.
as for the vets.....the top line of Read, Couturier and Simmonds was ok....Read skated well, but cant say Couturier did much to stand out...Simmonds got his work in.
two big positives from last night for me......Delzotto played very well at both ends as did Schenn.......and Stolarz looks like very good young prospect that may develop into the real deal....not sure I thought that before last night.

I thought Morin did.

Akeson played pretty well, even the TOR announcer talked about his play in length. Compared him to G which is absurd. He was making plays happen all night. I look forward to seeing if he and Vinny and RJ have any chemistry.

Didn't see the Toronto game. I want Akeson to make the team, so good to hear he played well.

Akeson had a great 2nd period.....has a chance to be a top 6 forward in the NHL.

I re-watched the Caps game after the Leafs game, and honestly Lecavalier was fine on the PP, but he didn't seem to play well at ES. There were a couple times that he and Umberger got bottled up in the zone and that is a bit worrisome.

Sanheim looked good and so did two of the Phantoms signings, Jones and Gordon. I thought Streit looked solid overall. Ghost & Hagg had the kind of ups and downs one should expect.

Could you imagine.. top 6..I really like how he's developed and hope he makes the team. I was impressed with him last playoffs after taking a bad penalty in game 1, came back with a goal in game 2... showed me a lot.

Alderson reminded me of Tye Mcginn...just a skinnier version. It is a big year for him this year.

Sort of, yeah. At least the engaged Tye McGinn. Not the McGinn that would disappear for games at a time. Alderson skates better than Tye, though. He moves good for a big guy. Not sure on his hands.

He has a lot of skill, and gets to the puck when he needs to....if he can finnish, he has a real shot at top 6...

Hands are the question for sure....him and Cousins....can they take the scoring from the OHL to the pro's?

The way they played last night, even without getting points, was effective. They spent a lot of time in the O zone and were solid, for the most part, at moving the puck up the ice. I'd take that from a 4th line.

Went to the Caps game last night. Had to leave after the 3rd Flyers goal (we moved down to the second row, daughter didn't enjoy the full-blast goal horn) but it wasn't bad. Sanheim looked really good. Hagg wasn't spectacular, but both he and Ghost looked fairly comfortable. Braydon Schenn, much like Mike Richards, isn't afraid to fight but can't win one to save his life. Umberger looked very "meh" but it's preseason. In the end, so much better than last year's games.

Were the lights as noticeable in person as on TV? I could read contract fine print by the light from my TV alone.

I was glad to see Raff-El of Krypton and his nemesis Stolzar finally be able to coexist on the same team.

Thanks

I thought you young Leafs looked pretty good last night, especially in the first. Looked very fast and comfortable with the puck. Maybe some future after all.

Loved watching McLaren and Stortini.

Only preseason, but a pretty fun game to watch. The announcer.

Guessing most of the vets w/ jobs sewn up are just playing hard enough not to get chided and focused on not getting hurt.

That's what I'm thinking. The only vets who really stood out (aside from Braydon Schenn still not knowing to to throw a clean hit in the corner) were Jake and Streit. They were mostly just going through the motions.
