good day today, the quest for the perfect season is still intact - Dan Petriw
It was a good idea to play a doubleheader especially during the beginning of training camp. I'm surprised more teams haven't done it before. |

Every year we go to penticton bc for a weekend because she's in the DragonBoat races, and every year I miss the Canucks young stars rookie games by a week. Would love to see some of those live even if it's not the isles prospects. This year when the isles come to town I'm staying for the whole game. That still makes me laugh. |

that would be great if this kid is legit. B/c its true, we would all owe Snow an apology. Especially if we make the playoff and Buffalo doesn't get a top 5 pick.
the reality is we all set with talent. We need some guys to really solidify our team.
Hopefully next year a guy like Dan Boyle will be kicking himself that he didn't sign with us. - Spartiarti
Here's what I heard from someone who has seen him play (a guy who spends a bit of time in Sweden, because his wife is from there)...very simple- he's never going to be a large man. If he can skate, and play tough and smart in traffic, he may be a great player, never mind a good one. If he doesn't pay the price, he'll be a better skating version of Brad Boyes. The choice appears to be his.... |

how do you figure??? - LetsGoIsles
how do you figure??? - LetsGoIsles
I see Tavares, Okposo, Nielsen, Bailey, Kulemin, Grabovski, Strome, Nelson, Lee, Clutterbuck, Martin, McDonald, Conacher, Grabner, Cizikas and Boulton as likely NHLers. Halmo, Persson and Sundstrom also played in the NHL last year, and Skille and Zolnierczyk, while I don't have too much faith in them, are also guys who I believe have seen NHL ice. Dal Colle and Ho-Sang will likely go back to junior, but you never know. That's 23 who could potentially play in the NHL. Now, realistically, here's what I see:
Tavares-Nelson-Okposo
Grabovski-Kulemin-Strome
Nielsen-Lee-Grabner (I'd rather see Lee switched with Kulemin, the latter being a superior defensive player...but I have to guess he brought Kulemin and Grabovski here to play together, at least at first...or so goes the rumor)
Cizikas-Martin-Clutterbuck
That leaves Boulton, McDonald, Bailey and Conacher as extra guys who will likely have a spot on the NHL roster- I don't think we can demote any of them without waiving them (Conacher may be an exception...not sure). Obviously, you carry Boulton for a specific reason, and Conacher is a wild card. As for Bailey and McDonald, sorry to say, but I'd hate like hell to see Lee and Strome in the minors for no reason other than leaving space for Snow to carry these two clowns on the roster- that plan had better not last longer than it takes to waive McDonald, and trade Bailey for whatever you can get for him. He may have no choice but to ditch Bailey for damn near nothing; there may not be anything else to do with him. It's a nice problem to have, but it's still a problem, and hopefully we can use some of that to reduce the shortage we have on the rearguard. I'd live with Bailey on line three, for example, if it's because I've traded Lee (for example- just throwing a name out there) as part of a package for a quality defenseman....but short of that....we have too many forwards, like Spartiarti said.... |

I'm still sleepy and haven't checked Google but I think that's somewhat accurate

That depends on the first time I see him in the offensive zone with the puck, with more than one potential decision to be made. Once I see whether that decision takes him .00000000000000001 seconds, as is normal for a decent offensive player, or 2-3 seconds, indicating continued brain death, that's how I'll know whether or not he's improved. If not, if you absolutely have to, you have him work on his defense, and put him next to Nielsen on line three, or (preferably) you ditch his contract ASAP. |

Yes, Buffalo got him through waivers. I'm a bit sad they gave up on him already, he wouldn't be a bad guy to try to hang on to for a few years to see if he could perform better when having good linemates. |

I have no problem with Conacher on waivers. I do not want Lee to have to spend time in the minors for guys like Conacher or Bailey. |

I think it is a hypothetical fantasy that Bailey and most of our forwards except for two is tradable for a top four vet defenseman, even a UFA. At 6' 4' 217 lbs, I would give Reinhart a spot and live with his learning curve. |

We share the same point of view on Lee. Could turn into a less dynamic John leclair and should be on the team in the top 9 at worst. |

If Conachar wins a job he will be here.. Whomever plays the best should be on the roster, if the team is winning just shows that have actual depth for the first time in forever. Boulton and Macdonald can be waived and I believe they would clear. Let camp play out. |

Playing the best is not how it always work with the Isles Dan. Unless Lee is horrible in camp he should get the spot. He showed enough last year to start the season on the Isles. Lee's size alone is needed. i'll take Lee into Battle against D's like the Rangers any day over Conacher. Conacher has had enough chances. It's Lee, Strome, and Nelson's time now. |

I tend to disagree except for McDonald & Boulton & Carkner. I think Snow in the early part of season would utilize the 2way contracts to his advantage. But the 3 guys I mentioned has zero value of being claimed and Snow will gamble on that. But I could see guys like Lee/etc being sent down to Bridgeport to start the season only bc of other players having 1way contracts.

Conacher, MacDonald and Boulton will be healthy scratches to start season
Hate to break it to you but Bailey will start over Lee to start season.
Lee will be first call up if someone gets hurt.
also thanks for download on Colberg. Lets hope he more Patrick Kane and not Jeff Tambellini.

we won't have 3 forwards scratched on the roster. only 23 players, 1 extra d, 2 extra forwards.

I’d think there’s no way those two should be on waivers either, grabner I expect to bounce back this year but Martin concerns me. If he continues to focus on trying to lead the NHL in hits instead of playing hockey he’s not really worth keeping imo, not when we have clutterbuck who’s also good on the pk and can ship in about 10 goals. |

I'll take as many almost-as-dynamic/John Leclaire-esque players as you can find.
