My Captains would be

Giroux (C)
Simmonds (A)
Coburn (A)

This might be an unpopular opinion but with Timonen out and should an injury come into play, Lecavalier would be a Captain, even ahead of Streit. Long time Captain wih Tampa, Stanley Cup, Possible future Hall of Famer.

I'd be fine with that, and truthfully, I hope Lecavalier makes me feel stupid all season -- I truly want the guy to be an effective player and if he can help lead, all the better.

I never expected him to be a star here. I've only expected support scoring by playing on the second line. I was very much aware that he's become injury prone and wasn't a positive defensively. I didn't however expect the struggling on the second line but makes sense seeing how Briere made plays and Lecavalier shoots.

they are playing that badly?
- coffee junkie

there is no rhythm or flow to the game. the flyers were badly outplayed in the 1st period, but... when you consider this is a split squad game and there is a noticeable lack of veteran presence on this unit... its not like we're looking at a tragedy in the making.

They didn't have the ideal roster for Lecavalier to fit last year, and he got hurt, and he didn't play as well as anyone would've liked, but I do think Umberger, as well as Raffl or Akeson...that might be something that helps.

1-3-1 PP setup in the Leafs game looking really good:

17-12-14
42-15

Maybe the 2nd-unit has a chance this year.

Fingers crossed, man. Fingers crossed -- it's the kind of break that damn near every elite team gets, some guy comes in and resurrects their career, or extends it by finding a new role

If it's a puck-moving defenseman for the Flyers, that would pretty much be amazing
