Having the 55th and 58th ranked prospects isn't "highly" but I suppose this is semantics. Besides, this list is bias towards NHL readiness too and only the top few are expected to be studs.

Right now, Hockey's Future has assigned the following ratings:

Morin: 7.5B
Ghost: 7.5C
Sanheim: 7.5C
Alt: 7.0C
Hagg: 7.0C

Not bad at all but the Flyers are ranked 22 overall as a team. The chances of any of these guys hitting their upper limit of potential is less likely than them become average NHL players.

- NickTheKid87

Those Hockey Futures ratings are irrelevant. Throw them out the window and forget about them.

Paul Martin is a very underrated defenseman. He's a very good player.
- MJL

Will watch more this year, but watching him on NJ and Pitt, he was never a guy I worried about, always saw him as a solid role player on D...and if he is looking for another 5M+ contract not sure the Flyers have the room for that...

The team is only ranked 22nd because Laughton is our only top forward prospect.

They're insightful but not gospel. I think they can give a good idea of what the average range is excluding the outliers.

If the Pens types here are to be believed, he's rounded out since his rough start to be their best defenseman. I'd be interested, but I'm more leery of term than cap hit.

I'm all for signing Ryan as long as they can clear some cap - especially VL $$ and maybe a dman like Grossmann. Ryan would be perfect for G and Jake. Also - Ryan gets knocked as a one dimensional player by some on this board but I can't find a single flyer forward with 50 takeaways and a plus 7 last season. No he's not a selke-like defender but he's not a one way player either, not even close. Jmo.
- moylander

i'd take ryan, at the right price. we'll see.

None of the dmen are considered to be future stars or #1 dmen. They could get there but that's not as likely as them becoming middle pairing dmen.

Fair enough, I have not been big on Martin's game and have not seen Mike Green play consistently well since he signed his last contract...It appears patience will be the new word...

Here is to hoping for some AMac and MDZ magic this year...

- JW98FlyerFan

I'd be willing to do a short term deal with Martin, but...doubt he is into that and, while he's a good defenseman, he's more a good number two guy than a number one. Green is capable of offense, but he's not great in his own end, to put it mildly. Staal would be, at best, an expensive Coburn

Devils rookies need to get used to playing in an empty arena

i've never heard of a game, even pre-season, being closed to basically everyone. very odd.

There's swarms of cops when there's an event, at least whenever I've been there for something. My wife and I used to go to the Symphony nearby(her career is in music) quite often and we'd eat at the restaurants in the neighborhood.

Now, go two blocks away and it's a DMZ Hellscape.

- Jsaquella

they let you in to the symphony?

It's amateur hour over there. Some of the posters on this site are more knowledgeable then some of the guys that write for Hockey Futures.

Not considered by who? The geniuses at HF who think Cousins is our 5th best prospect.

Considered by who is the question. Do you think the Flyers drafted Morin with the 11th pick, while thinking he's not a potential #1 defenseman?

Either way, it's still unlikely that Morin, Sanheim, Ghost, Hagg, Alt will hit the limits of their potential. It's unlikely that even 2 or 3 of them will. It's also unlikely that all will be busts or that none will be an above average dman. Time is the only thing that will clear things up. It just seems to me that these young players are running the risk of becoming over-hyped.

I mean, I guess it's reasonable to say that it's more likely than not that these defense prospects will be less than top pairing players. But that's along the same lines as any free agent we get will be overpaid, signed for too long, and was let go for a reason, or that any player we trade for will cost more than he's worth.

I know I haven't been the most optimistic poster lately, but, uh... yeah. That's my post.

I'm not arguing potential, I'm arguing probability. And more so in terms of the whole lot of young dmen than the individual ones.

I will take my chances on these young guys any day than overpay for a FA or trade. But I just looks like people are getting ahead of themselves with these young players.

Crazy, because you think the Devils would want to do something like this with the Flyers to bring revenue (even a little revenue from concession sales) to the franchise.

OTOH, Josh Harris should be used to owning a team that makes less money and draws less fans than the Flyers.

LETS GET THIS SEASON STARTED!!!!

I was going to buy tickets for the London since I live here but the price they are charging is ridiculous $100 to see some rookies and a couple vets no thanks. Guess I'm planning out my road trip to PHILLY

You're bringing me down man... They haven't even played the first preseason game and you're dumping on our prospects.
