And yet the Canucks have been to three SCF since they arrived on the scene. The Leafs? Not so much. Leafs have talented players, but they won't win a Stanley Cup until 2030. I guarantee that. - YzermanIsTheMan
I'd say red wings fans are gonna be waiting a while as well once Datsyuk and Zetterberg stop playing hockey |

He can go to Toronto, best chance at winning the cup.
Kadri, Kessel, and a 1st should get it done. - kneughter

If I'm Davidson or Kekalainen I'd tell him to go ahead and accept the KHL offer and call his bluff. Let him go live on the other side of the world for a year, thousands of miles away from anybody he knows. They'll still retain his rights when he comes back. |

It's an option for his agent to use in the current negotiations. As an RFA who hasn't produced for more than a season it's about all the leverage he's got.
If he does go to Russia, when he comes back from Russia he's still going to have to prove he produce in the NHL for more than one season and on to of that he's going to have to prove he's not a whiny spoiled brat who will sabotage his team before anybody will give him a big long term contract. So unless his end game is to delay a big NHL pay day and/or never play for the Columbus Blue Jackets again it's not really an option. |

Losing those two will hurt but you don't make the playoffs and win 4 cups for over 20 years because of two people. D and Z are teaching the young kids what they have to do to be successful. How to play a complete defensive and offensive type of game, how to battle through injuries and adversity. Just like they were taught when they were kids. That kind of thing is just as important, if not more important than pure talent.
Where as the young leafs are being taught how to choke away a playoff spot and when the going gets tough...play some ping pong. |

Illitch is getting up there, and while I think he's shown his kids how to be a great owner who knows how they (or somebody else) runs the team when he's gone. That's the real question mark as far as the Wings future goes, not Datsyuk or Zetterberg or Lindstrom or Yzerman, etc retiring.
I'm sure most teams play ping pong. Kessel and Phanuef just seemed to be a little to into it to me.

They're going to sell DET to Jim Balsillie so they can finance their rap careers and their subsequent first album "License To Illitch" |

What was the actual end result of Tulloch's injury? Was it bad? |
