He has talent and speed and decent size too.
- Ihatebrianburke

looked like one of the fastest guys at development camp. I think Eakins was apparently impressed with his speed/physique

A lot of people think he has a great shot at the world Junior team this year. I hope we have at least 1 quality prospect on the team, makes it so much more interesting.
- Jeropotato

it totally does.

nurse has got to be a virtual lock if he doesn't make our squad. (i don't think he will actually. small sample, but he seems a little too 'loose' with the puck, if u get my meaning)

Wasn't he kind of a fat ass his draft year?

i see

junior might not hurt. maybe work on some offensive skills and put up some big numbers. certainly less structured anyway.

not sure if that's really what we want him focusing on though, but i doubt it'll hurt him too much

- hugefemale dog77

Ya I imagine a 95-100P season wouldn't hurt him too much. Don't see any real gaping holes in his game, maybe round out the defensive side of his game.

Possibly. He didn't look out of place with Nuge and Hall at all. I hope Joenssu is put on waivers no matter what happens though. I'd hate to waste a roster spot on him. I don't see Wesgarth being offered a contract. He was probably the worst player on the ice tonight. Really dragged down the fourth line with Yakimov and Tkachev. Yakimov is a beast and might be a decent option as 4th line center.
- Ihatebrianburke

Playing with Nuge and Hall will make lots of guys look better than they are. I can'tsee him on the big club this year. Next year maybe though.

This is the internet HA, people are over confident and afraid to admit areas they are ignorant in, or simply say "I don't know". I know I will never mistreat my snake again. Beating that snake more than 4 or 5 times a day, can really cause a lot of pain and chaffing.

Not sure what his knocks were in his draft year. Think defensive game, consistency, n maybe discipline

Agreed. Plus I think we have to play it a bit safer with Marincin still developing , Schultz, Klef , Etc....best we take our time with the individuals and try to at least have a solid defensive core before inserting yet another rookie.

imo, klefbom was more noticeable than nurse tonight.

still kind of a bonehead, but skated his azz off and was really trying to make things happen.

he still has those moments of gong show, but tonight was by FAR the most ive ever been impressed with his game as a pro.

still total conjecture of course, but i wasn't sure if he'd ever make an impact in the show after seeing him abit last year. tonight he looked like he could do much more than just 'make it'..... with some furthur polishing and learning of course

Sure hope so. If he can be great positionally and have great gap control I would be okay with him being simply good at moving the puck. Did you notice any meanness to him?

I guess leon was good on the draw tonight

7 of 11

- ystoil

That is a good sign. It is Calgary though and preseason. I don't care if Leon makes it but we wont know till after 9 games. I don't think it will be rushing him. His size and vision are spot on. His first few steps will get better in time.

not really anything out of the ordinary. but he's a big dude, so he's able to use his size anyway.
certainly doesn't seem to have the mean streak nurse does

Things look good for a change. Hopefully we continue to get draft picks turn out that are out of the 1st round. Chase would be awesome to turn out from the 7th round. I still have high hopes for Bachman.

yaks is abit pluggish with the puck, but he'll figure out how to make sh1t happen in open ice. so big and strong and a decent skater.
really like what he could become. a hanzal type would be just be fantastic for this squad

roy doesn't get enough credit with the other more intriguing kids around like leon, yaks2, tkachev etc. but he's a super solid player. quality skater, hard worker, can play a few different roles.

Just got back from watching the game in Edmonton
I think Draisaitl sticks...he didn't look out of place and will likely just get better
He had good composure, similar to how Monahan looked last season
Of course it's just one game, but if he keeps it up, I can't see them sending him down

Nurse will be sent down for sure...he has promise but he's just not ready yet

this

ive always been a glass is half empty fan. especially with this club.
and i realize its just preseason against half squads. but those names i mentioned genuinely impressed me

bachman's got an uphill battle that's for sure. aside from the obvious guys in front of him, id bet that mact WANTS it to be brossoit long term. so LB gets the benefit going forward. they'll split time this year, but its prob LB's job next year.

but certainly not to say its impossible. outplay him, take the full time starter role, hope to win a backup spot with the big club in the next season or two, and see what happens..

Nurse would have to really impress to not get sent down. I agree he probably isn't ready just yet, which is ok as we finally have 6 guys who can play in the NHL. Now we just have to hope nurse can become a top pairing guy.
