any thoughts on bobby ryan to pittsburgh? Pens still looking for that talent at wing, and ryan seems unhappy in ottawa (he just turned down a 7 year deal if I'm not mistaken).

We just got rid of James Neal, don't need another.

I always thought the beat them b*tches down approach of Bylsma made no sense for a smaller skilled team like the Pens. It resulted in a ton of injuries. Almost anything will be better, IMO.

I'm excited to see how well Hornqvist does in Pittsburgh (living in Nashville these days), especially playing beside two of the best centers in the NHL.

On Bennett, what kind of point production do you guys feel he'll hit this year?

And looking forward to the preseason game, this offseason seems like its been the longest in a long time. Hoping that the Wings and Pens meet in the playoffs a few times soon to create a good cross-divisional rivalry.

I dunno, not much... I honestly feel like he's made of glass and will be hurt a lot this season.

so we're gonna have comeau playing on sids wing? look I'm all for adding depth to this team, but we can't ignore the fact that theres a major hole in the penguins top 6, and between the facts that bennett is as injury prone as he is, we have no idea how dupuis will return, and we're just assuming hornqvist is a perfect fit despite never having played a game in pittsburgh, i'd like a little more elite security than dan carcillo.

I honestly wish they would have brought Ryan Malone back, definitel rather have him than Carcillo, at least he's performed in the top 6 before... what a 6 time - 20 goal scorer?

I think the real way Johnston will help Letang is just giving him the ability to be himself. Seems like Bylsma really drove the X's and O's home and I just dont think Letang is that kind of player. You need to direct him in the right direction but at the same time you need to give him the space and ability to create his own plays and use the assets he has.

But i dont know about you guys, but i am really excited for this season. seems like Johnston really gets it and sees what this team needs to do to work. Little cautious about the Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis line but if they gel and work like they did 2 years ago, you will have one of the better lines in hockey, i just think Dupuis would excel on a 3rd line role.

really excited to see Hornqvist also. seems like the kind of guy you need around on and off the ice.

I like Bennett, a lot here dont. I dont think he is injury prone, he has just had some awful luck and obviously these longer term injuries, especially during the offseason, hurt his ability to put on the muscle he really needs to be a good NHL top 6 option. His skating and vision are very good, the problem is that it's pretty easy to knock him off the puck.

Ryan Malone is no where near the player he used to be. Not saying I didnt want him, but any expectation to perform like he did in the past would be very unfair to ryan malone.

I agree with Gunner, puck support will definitely benefit Letang. Some of his worst moments had to do with getting pressured without out options. He became a turnover machine at times.

I agree with this and I would add to complement Malkin and Hornqvist's line I would like to see someone who can bang bodies and be strong on the boards.

Really curious to see who gets slotted on the second line. Spalling?

Dupuis is not top 6 on this team plz stop. Age plus injury he is better suited for 3rd line and pk duties... let the kids play.

Also both preseason tickets are for sale. I'm unable to attend. Face value sec 201 row C seats 17 & 18

I believe they are still going to try Bennett there, until something comes out saying different.

What for? No one cares. They're already contenders for one of the worst NHL rosters iced in a decade this year. Once bobby Ryan leaves it'll be a cinch for one of bottom five rosters.

I can't think of a roster with less talent off the top of my head.

Some people saying Spaling looks really good. Take it for what's its worth ( a few practices). But mgmt may have bigger plans for him than the rest of us...

Didn't really stand out in the scrimmage yesterday. Some people labelled him boom or bust, I hope that is not why he fell lower in the draft. I thought he looked more confident with the puck and skated harder at the prospects camp earlier this summer.

Thx for the input. Kapanen is who I'll be watching most closely in the preseason games. He may have the skill and IQ but he is quite skinny. Interesting to see what transpires..

Maybe Kapanen with malkin and Hornqvist really isn't a bad idea. I do agree they will most likely go after a top 6 winger some point during the season, but putting a rookie with those 2 would be perfect. Malkin is one of the best players in the game and Hornqvist has speed, hits, and he is a big net front presence. Maybe Kapanens small size and speed will mesh well with those 2. I'm just thinking if you're going to play the kid, might as well put him in the best position to succeed

Looks like Martin is getting a lot of looks with Ehrhoff. For the preseason game, it looks like he will be with Scuderi. Just interesting there is no hint of the Martin-Letang pairing we've all been assuming.

One Connor McDavid fixes that in a hurry though... If you're going to have a bad team, this is the year to do it.
