Wish I could find that post from couple years ago where I said reimer would be out the league in a few years. I might have been right.
- Yeti1181

I remember someone saying that and I didn't know it was you. At the time I thought it was crazy but now it sounds a lot more possible.

That's basically what I said then and got ripped pretty hard for it.

I thought he could maybe work on his rebounds, positioning and glove hand but it a any improved. It's gotten worse.

Can you stream it directly from leafs tv.
- Yeti1181

Uhm. I'm not sure. Maybe leafs TV online.

I'm sure someone on here knows a safe link to stream it online.

His problem is he tenses up when shots hit him. Watch when they do close ups he almost always has a closed eye looked to him, it's hard to absorb a shot when your stiff.

I think that the second day of on-ice drills is perhaps a bit early to be making this kind of statement...

Never noticed that. I will be sure to look for it next time. He's never going to be a goalie you can win with.

No offender guys but Reimer behind semi competent NHL defence is an NHL goalie. Bernier is better but Reimer isn't the mess you make him out to be. He's the biggest reason you got to the POs 2 years ago.

This.

If we could get away without giving up a metric (frank)-tonne of shots on the guys every night, he'd at least have a chance.

POINT!

Disagree.

Edit: just because he had a good season or two does not make him a competent NHL goalie now. Jim Carey won a ve Zina and was out of the league a few years later.

The issue I had when Reimer came in when bernier was hurt was he was letting 2-3 goals in by 10-15 min mark of the 1st period!

He would then settle in but we had an uphill battle after the first period every game it seemed.

It just didn't appear that anyone had any confidence in him

my take:

reims is better than he was last season:
- he lost his starter job and that effects you emotionally as a goalie
- he felt randy and the coaching staff picked bernier over him before the season started (which was true) but that hurts your goalie confidence wise (confidence is half of being a goalie).
- the team plays better infront of bernier than reimer - kind of like they did for reimer over scrivens/the monster for the year before.

If he embraces the backup role and plays when he should be played (back to back nights) and vs non contending teams then he should be sheltered and have a decent season

I agree, ever since I think it was the Ottawa game? When he got yanked after the second period allowing (4or5) goals. Then bernier came in and didn't let a goal in and the leafs came back to win.

Bernier from that time forward had a longer leash, but either way if Reimer wants play he has to step up this year!

I just hope he bounces back, if he does - we have a great tandem.

You know that would mean the leafs would be getting a 6.3m back up right?

It's not my money. Besides, do you really think any team wants to trade for Reimer right now? Throw Clarkson into the deal too. That will fix the $ issue.

Why would you do that? Add like 3 times the cap hit and don't improve the team?
