Did you see the holding call on Sims in the Rams game on the play where he would have sacked Romo with a little over 2 minutes left?
Rams gave the game away and continue to find ways to lose. Good thing I am not a Rams fan other than very casually rooting for the hometown team. - stljam

The right team lost. The Lions will find a way to be stupid somewhere along the line. Plus, (frank) Aaron Rodgers. |

Hedican is one of my all time favorite D men. Excellent power skater. More size but less speed than Leddy. Solid player. - 6628

Right on.
Obviously think he'd be better off 'toiling' with some other organisation. Guy is a waste of money. - prd797
Why do you guys always have to find somebody to hate? LaBlanc was a free agent prospect they signed as a free agent. Hasn't panned out yet, might never. Why piss all over the guy? There's a million out there like him who couldn't make the jump to the big leagues. |

His ability to chase guys down and close gaps in the nuetral zone, often, goes without notice. I recognize his struggles around the goal line, but from my novice eyes, he appears to be learning the tricks of the trade with poke checks and angles a little more. Like Keith, and Oduya for that matter, they are never going to consistently knock people off of the puck, it is their quickness and transition ability that mitigate the physical play and keeps the other team honest in respecting that ability.
Leddy was touted as a Phil Housley, when drafted and brought up, it is a different game, I think if worst case he can be a Brett Hedican from Cannucks I believe...then that is fine. Probably bad comparison, as I just recall Hedican being able to skate like the wind. He was bigger but less skilled then leddy. - TrueGrit
Leddy did skate with Hammer a few years ago and Hammer had his worst season as a hawk. I believe leddy needs to go. |

I fail to see how stating the fact that he is bad is indicative of 'pissing all over the guy'.
He isn't very good, as you more or less confirmed you agreed in the bolded above.
My only real gripe (and this is nitpicking, not 'pissing all over') is that he's on a one way deal and is a waste of that money. Is that as much Stan's fault for giving it as it is Drew's inability to be good enough? Sure. But hell, his contract might in some minute way hamper the Hawks' ability to manoeuvre as they hang around the cap ceiling this year. Can't be too sure yet.
Much less a hatred on my part more than that it is an annoyance that he's still in the organisation. |

Though I'd rather keep Oduya and Leddy.

Between the start of this upcoming season and the start of next season, you will see Leddy, Oduya and Rozsival replaced by Clendening, Dahlbeck and Johns.
Besides promoting prized prospects to the parent club, these moves will free up valuable cap space. The Hawks will also get slightly bigger and more physical on the back end.
Leddy will not be signed again as he is too weak on the puck and makes too much for a third pairing d-man. Moving Oduya would give the Hawks more cap space than moving either of the other two. Rozsival will be gone once the Hawks find anyone to take him.
Dahlbeck may be the most NHL ready of the three. Johns might still need a partial season in Rockford to hone his game. Clendening, however, would replace Leddy's puck moving ability when Leddy is dealt. - dwthedon
First, welcome. Second, not meaning to tear apart your post, but I will disagree with you on everything except freeing up cap space.
In theory, and in practice, they would free up cap space. But they likely won't happen because Q and the coaching staff would probably quit if they had to rely on that limited experience in defensemen 5-7.
I have heard Oduya and his agent are talking to the Hawks about a cap-friendly extension. He wants to stay and i think given a choice, Hawks would like to keep him. A lot can happen on the way to the altar, but at the start of the summer, Pizza Man was as good as gone and that has changed—again, because, I have heard, he will work with the Hawks on a cap friendly deal.
Leddy very possibly (probably) WILL be gone and ultimately "replaced" by one of the guys you mention or Rundblad. They are very high on Dahlbeck and he is the most NHL ready of the three. Johns might need a full season+ in the AHL. Clendening still has a massive hole in his game until proven otherwise.
Defense is the toughest NHL position to "grow into." There is no need to rush these guys along really.

I guess I'll preface this post with this thought - when BLAH wins a battle along the boards, someone page me.
Beyond that, I guess the only problem with BLAH is the $600,000 he'll make skating in Rockford while I yell "pick up your head, BLAH" as he's skating by looking at his own skates.
Other than that, BLAH isn't going to effect the cap in Chicago unless he actually start playing hockey.
When he leaves, I guess I'm going to have to find a new guy to heckle from the stands. So I'm actually dreading the thought of losing BLAH. |
