Would love to hear/know what he did this off-season in terms of training. And where he was in terms of fitness on the club. All Morin has to do is watch and learn from Hossa. That guy exemplifies being a pro!

I really believe that the light bulb went on in Morin's head around the turn of the year last season in Rockford. I saw a whole different animal then.

I think he finally lost the attitude that some in Rockford had - taking their potential in the organization for granted. Morin showed a win at all costs attitude during a that stretch in Rockford. For example, started using his head in regards to fighting through the opposing defense to get to the goal rather than trying to skate ahead of them, which he wasn't going to pull off anyways.

He needs to bring that drive every night if he wants to succeed. Otherwise, he's just a tweener with a plus shot fighting to keep a roster spot on an NHL team.

If he was any good yes, they need a big body.

Do they need a guy that takes up a roster spot, gets virtually no shifts so they are only rolling 3 lines. That describes Bollig in the playoffs. Not sure that's what they need.

- HawkintheD

Perhaps Bickell, Seabrook and Shaw need to fill that void to some extent?

They've been trying to get "us" to like it for 40 years now - yeah, kids are playing it - it's a good non-impact sport - but then they seem to forget about it and return to baseball, football, basketball, hockey. The under-40s may be knowledgeable, but they ain't watching it.

Do you really think soccer will replace baseball as a major sport - even in the (as you put it) "distant future"?

- StLBravesFan

IMO , I think A good portion of our young generation does not even play baseball nor watch ithe pros on TV. Look at The Kane County Cougars. For the last 4 years or so their attendance is considerably down. This years Couger team finished first for the first time ever ..but the attendance was not that good. Now about soccer. The world Cup had record American viewers. Unfortunately, the NSL Has done very little in putting quality players on the field. The young are watching international matches for sure...but unfortunately the pro league in the US is is equal at best AA. I do believe when the NSL finally joins a international league that includes teams from CENTRAL & South America...baseball will fade into the sunset.

Eh, I'd argue that Regin was under-utilized more than anything.

As for treating him like "crud," if Morin is smart, he'll take it as he needs to prove himself this season to get those opportunities.

Case could be made for Regin no doubt. Playing Versteeg night in and out was just plain stubborn and stupid.

Morin potted 4 goals in the last 5 regular season games and is banished to black ace status. Meanwhile, the Kings ride their young guns all the way the Cup Parade.

Q has decided that Morin's game is improved over previous years. Or maybe he has been told in no uncertain terms to give him a chance.

Hard to believe there is room for both Versteeg and Morin on this roster.

There is no water cooler talk anywhere that I've seen (I'm only going by my experience here, not a scientific study) about soccer. There was some during the recent World Cup, but it's gone now.

No one I know - and I have the usual extensive family, social, and professional contacts of all ages, sexes, ethnic groups, etc. - ever talks about hockey. Certainly our Hispanics will follow it more than non-Hispanics, but I associate with a lot of Eastern Europeans, and it's football and basketball - some hockey - with them.

You have four major sports in the US - in most of the soccer world, you only have two or three. Soccer will not surpass baseball or any of the other four majors here.

I'll keep you filled in. I'll probably see him play next Thursday during one of two Rockford preseason games.

Chances are he'll be in Indy too.

Olzcyk says Crow had 'no chance' on the goal. Really ????? If he stands up, he had every chance. Just like on the o/t winner that KO'd us last spring.

Interesting. QC is the Wild's AA affiliate. I'd have to figure that the organization would want him in Indy, but QC is a two hour drive closer to Rockford...

Keith scores!

I'm really liking that Saad/Richards/Kane line.
