They're both been dealt!!! - DarthKane
Did you happen to catch one of Coach Q's media Q & A sessions on the Blackhawk site when they were at ND? He was asked what he thought about how Leddy looked and whether there was improvement in his game. He gave his usual very guarded response but nothing much positive. When asked about Rozsival, he was extremely positive and talked about what a very good hockey player he was.
And for Philco's consumption - Q really likes what he sees so far in Versteeg. |

Only signed him to an AHL deal. So in essence he's still getting assigned to Rockford if I understand correctly. - prd797

In all likelihood Leddy will be the odd man out *crosses fingers and toes*.
If Versteeg can truly turn things around he will be a big asset to the team, both this year and next. We'll have to wait and see though.[/img] |

NHL transaction lingo confuses me sometimes. "Release" means assign to Rockford. Getting "waived" means getting assigned to Rockford. "Salary cap" - BlazinMikemeans getting assigned to Rockford
So confusing
In this context, it's releasing players that were "loaned" to the club from Rockford. |

Ahh ok, that makes sense. Im just going to assume every player will eventually be assigned to Rockford haha |

Don't automatically assume that.
The Hawks could still technically "release" a player. For example, if Cam Barker fails to receive a contract from the organization, the team will essentially "release" him from his PTO. This makes Barker free to sign where he chooses to.
The word "release" has a slightly different meaning depending on the context of the situation. |

You would hope a bubble player (Rundblad) or someone really trying to make the team would be at the top but I guess one of the reasons these guys are as good as they are is they have- even for athletes - the best physical gifts.
Remember reading that Michael Jordan could maintain his condition and fat percentage during his prime by just playing golf during the off season. His trainer said he had never seen anyone with that sort of lung/heart capacity and his body fat was typically under 4 % or something. |

Rundblad and Morin are two young guys that we need to step up. They don't need to be top line type of guys, but if they can add some solid depth that would be a huge win.
I'm a lot like Michael Jordan, I can keep my body fat around the same percentage with very little effort. The only difference is that that mine is around 40%, not 4%.

<<<< As for Voynov, guys were all over Muzzin, too. I can't be held responsible for those moes!
Seriously, tho, it's a matter of expectations. If they had listened to Sutter, they would have heard him regale those guys as being great for their age, not great for the NHL, yet. But now, for example, Muzzin has 175 total career games. 43 of them, fully 25%, are playoff games, in deep runs. Voynov is 20% I think.
For me, the proof of their worth was us losing Regehr and Mitchell, our only 2 real veteran regulars (Greene was a platooned 7th with Martinez most of the year) and both Mitchell and Regehr played the left side.
So how bad can Voynov and Muzzin be if they played full-time minutes all season on the Jennings Trophy defense, then still won the Cup while losing 2 vets, both from the same side. For me that's an argument toward depth.
The holding thing is moot, it's the same rules for both teams. I'd rather they let the grabs go some, but not as much as they did, but theyt really allowed a lot of whacking and stick work away from the play, i.e. Brown and Hossa looked like a couple of lumberjacks in a blood feud.
Sorry but complaining about Refs just doesn't address the Jennings quality of play from all our guys, all year long. >>>>
Your Zus comment:
This is awesome, informative, thanks. I get it now with Zus; we loved the guy, with his faults, but we also didn't expect too much from him. Remember, we got him the year after knee surgery, and essentially it took him a season to get back to his best, so he was for us a bridge player of a much longer crossing. - PlayerX
"Those moes".... Muzzin certainly made progress this year but Voyanov certainly was being protected by Sutter and his minutes were limited in the POs. The holding hardly went both ways. Not when one group of d men is certainly more mobile than the other. Holding and interference being ignored certainly favors the less mobile group. I won't even get in to the missed off sides.
"Jennings type play"... Yep, Martin Jones was a great find and again your forwards and system have more to do with that then your D group.
"So how bad can Voynov and Muzzin be if they played full-time minutes all season on the Jennings Trophy defense, then still won the Cup while losing 2 vets, both from the same side. For me that's an argument toward depth."
Great evaluation. IMO Voyny looks like a serious overpay. His play dropped off considerably. Muzzin, if he plays with Doughty and continues to improve should expect a 4 fold increase in salary. Can Lombardi pay that in his structure? I like Lombardi - I suspect he tosses not just Stoll but Williams too to keep some cap flex and sign the younger players but no chance you avoid a cap crunch unless injury or terrible play in your core allows discount signings. Those injuries helped you because it reinforced with your forwards that they needed to drop down and help as much as possible. Great mind set to go into the playoffs with. The Hawks OTOH - had Kane and Toews on IR and were basically not playing D post break - particularly the forwards.
I love the revisionism in LA LA land. Yes, you have the cup. No, you didn't cake walk or dominate anyone in a series until possibly the Rangers (who should have been dominated) AND EVEN that series early hinged on some utterly awful calls by your playoff long allies McCauley and O'halloran.

Thanks Rick....team site cranks out a lot of content and i did catch Q's positive assessment of 'Steeger. If Kris can find the jump and hunger he had in '10...he might be worth keeping around.
Hawks site had a vid with Johns mic'd up...it was fairly good. This young'n seems really sharp between the ears and he's PHYSICAL. Good combo. But as has been discussed, he has to pick his spots when stepping up on his man....sometimes he's too eager, misses his target and the other team suddenly has an odd man rush. |

Whaddya mean Phil?
Heck, he'll fit right in IMO, the bolded is one Mr. Duncan Keith's reason-to-exist. Good thing he's got a pretty good partner covering his ass.
BTW, do we know if Keith broke off a chunk of the Norris to give to Seabs? Certainly deserves at least a half-share.

Not incorrect.
Go to the Hawks twitter feed, scroll down and you'll see a pic of pretty boy along with Kane. Looks like #10 took about 7 to 10 stitches to his left facial cheek.
