Not the experience he was looking for?

I'm sure he appreciates the cudos.

Also, I think your occasional visit here to "needle" the board about the Hawks weak group of d men is misguided. Those lackluster defensive numbers in last year's POs had more to do with the lack of defensive help from the forward group of the Hawk's than a fall off by the defensive group (though there was one).

Just like the Kings defensive numbers were also a reflection of Sutter getting his entire forward group to hustle and back check consistently. This, plus the FACT that officials were allowing more holding and interference in the playoffs in 14 than 13, helped your D group overcome their obvious (and still present) shortcomings. Regehr (until IR), Mitchell and Greene were all immobile. Voyanov was a dear in the headlights most of the time. Muzzin made some nice progress - his improvement gave Doughty more confidence to be aggressive.

For Chicago. If Q identifies 4 lines and sticks with rolling them the defensive numbers will look more like 13. That is one of the keys for the Hawks.

Considering the clear problems the Hawks had - mainly from rolling less than 4 lines - and the fact that it still took 7 games and OT for the Kings to win - your high horse has weak legs.

Hey man you got me all wrong. I don't come here to needle, you guys are good at staying on point, and apart from an initial message from the Ref I have done the same. No high horse here, I'm just talking Hawks with the experts. Chillax.

And, you took a compliment, a clear and concise compliment, and tried to turn it into something else. I'll say it again, I was amazed that your lineup took a 10 or 11 player hit and two years later you won a Cup anyway. Make me wrong for saying that, g'head.

Voynov is not a deer in the headlights, and it seems some heavy resentment is clouding your view of me, and of the team I like.

Muzzin, playing his first full season, paired with Doughty and faced some fairly decent opponents like every single shift. We don't mind if he looks bad occasionally, he almost never repeats mistakes.

I could go down the list of Kings D, but why? The post, and my comments, are about what I, an idiot outsider, think YOU should do with YOUR team. I don't have to defend my team in order to be correct about your team. I also don't get to be right about your team even if I am right about my team.
It's a fair discussion, from this end.

Welcome to Funland. If you lurk here you would notice that most of us already have discussed the impending cap crunch. It is what it is. After years of watching the Hawks' best players leave because the owner was too cheap to pay them, this is a breath of fresh air to us long time fans. Losing bottom 6 players is the way of the new NHL. So be it. Its a lot easier to find guys to fill those roles than it is to find top 5 players at their positions.

It didn't help the Hawks that the cap is artificially lower than it was before the lock out.

Just say he is a promising goalie and you'll get a lot for him.

Speaking of Florida, I am going to the Tampa game in Feb to celebrate the half century mark, plan on doing Ybor City after the game, has anyone had any experiences there?
- Cup-Bearer

Yeah I got my seats for that game already ---in section 129 row C seat one.

If you want any help with any of that you got it.

Ybor is...nice I guess, to learn the history of the area.
Ybor is like Rush street or the places on Clark street after the Cubs game.
My daugher was booked and played Ybor once.

The old sons of the masters are rolling the cigars there and the Columbia spanish and their 1905 sprimp salad and the great seafood dishes is to die for, but....

We have Picasso here and cheaper hotels...

The easier response would have been consider the source.

The premise you stated overlooks two factors, imo.

One, a team moving a star player is rarely, if ever, better. There are exceptions but Kane doesn't fall into that category. Cripes, he produces pretty much no matter who is playing next to him. PPG players are hard to find. Who in the league is both the equal to him and are available? My guess is no one.

Second. Your team went out and traded for a player to inject more offense into the Kings' offense. And I am sure you are aware that it was offense that allowed the Kings to come back so many times in the playoffs last season.

Defense does win championships but having an offense to make up for a bad goal here and there sure the hell helps.

I give Miller a year before they start calling for Lack to replace Miller as the starter.

I am not advocating you should move Kane, my bad if that was the impression. I'm just looking at the goals scored, for you, should have been enough, especially against us.

And you lost Zus, who though aged is still viable defensively, I thought. No?

Just so many comments about scoring, and articles about forwards, and I think to myself jeez, at some point you just can't score more, you have to stop more from being scored against you.

Also, I enjoy the wild difference in philosophy and systems. Much the same, but some wild differences, and, again just IMHO, the Hawks seem to over-emphasize scoring. Of course you're right about Gaborik and the scoring and the comebacks, but also it should be known that Lombardi was always cautious about bringing in a "sniper."
He spoke many many times about needing to make sure the "room wouldn't be overwhelmed" by a new character, and upset the mindset of the players. So he was careful, and a lot of people think he just went after Richards and Kovalchuk for show to appease the fan base, but low-balled the offers knowing those guys would never come to the Kings.
So I'm just curious how you guys think, are you on board with the current outlook, maybe there is dissension with the way St. Louis is building, things like that. And I also see system differences, and have commented in earlier threads about it, that would tweak toward Defense just a bit without needing to change personnel. So I wonder what the Hawks fans think, so I come here to find out. I'm just looking for people that know their team as well as I know mine.

Is Lack even really good enough to be a starter some day soon? All I've heard about since he was minding the net for the Wolves is that he's the Nucks next Luongo

Given the current state of the Canucks I would have gone with Lack as the starter as signed a veteran back up to be their 1B. Maybe somebody like Greiss or Montoya. If they wanted a starter Hiller would have been a better option. The goaltending situation in Vancouver has been a gong show for any goalie after McLean. So many fans here are ticked off that they lost Schneider and Luongo for scraps, only to sign Miller for the same price. I get a kick out of the situation.

Oh we all do, DK.

So, in other words, Lack has some upside but is (temporarily) superceded by an overpaid Miller as the Nucks #1.

Gong show is right.

All they had to do is keep one of Schneider or Luongo, but they messed that up. More fans were upset with the Luongo trade than the Kesler trade.

Now now, you know Mike Gillis didn't like doing things the easy way or the right way.

Geno Smith is an NFL Quarterback?

1st pass attempt is a pick-6.
