New Music scenes pop up all the time, similar to Seattle, just not as exposed.Mid to late 90's there was a brief surge of Heavy Southern Rock, Late 90's early 2000's there were some amazing bands coming out of Scandinavia and of course the California/Arizona desert stoner rock scene.... Some made it big, some didn't but there were some great bands in there.
Somewhere else will pop up again pretty soon.

There is a constant rotation in popular music. But the 90's were great if you were a rock fan. In Jr high all the chicks liked Madonna and Janet Jackson, and the dudes all liked GNR and Ac/Dc or NWA/Public Enemy.

i still remember when it happened for me. i was washing dishes (an after school chore) and there was a tiny tv on top of the fridge that had MTV on it. i was facing the sink but then i heard some guitar and i turned my head and saw that nirvana video for the first time and was like "oh, it might just be on now."

I don't remember the first time I heard it exactly...but I remember a couple dudes talking about them one day and a week later everyone in school had a copy of Nevermind. It was a crazy explosion.

yeah, when it went off it really went off.

there was that peaceful yet stomping-around time of enjoying it before the clone bands came along and ruined it. it was nice because we didn't see that coming so we actually thought we had something awesome that was going to last. but then candlebox and sponge happened and the writing was on the wall. but we had that time, man! we had that small fleeting window of awesomeness. and that was ours to keep!

i kind of found a weird comfort in the fact that the kids at school weren't listening to what i was listening to. in grade school kids were listening to a-ha and poop. you tube that poop. it made me feel like i was the normal one.
