Football(soccer), is basically the same game as hockey only slower(not on ice and larger surface) and you only use your feet instead of a stick.

The same premise applies--time and space. Time and space create plays and create scoring. What do defensemen and goaltenders attempt to do? Take away time and space. If you give up time you will give up space and you will give up goals. When someone is said to have high hockey IQ our vision it is essentially short hand for say they can create time and space.

I'm not referring to individual performance stats...you know team game and that weird thing winning is what matters. I could care less if Hall leads the league in scoring for 15 years, if the team keeps finishing at the bottom than it's pointless.

VERY depressing and frustrating, but knowing they will make the playoffs most years at least gives hope that they have a chance.

Not sure if I would give that up for a guaranteed stinker every year.

Hockey is the only pro sport with no out of bounds, so people need to stop comparing it to soccer because there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and the ice, the boards, and the puck are a hell of a lot harder than the grass field and bouncy balls.

The Oilers have won as many championships in the 90's, as the entire Philly pro sports Franchises have in the last 30 years......are you sure you should be here trolling? Well said and nice parallel. The two sports, at a glance, might not seem to have anything in common, but when given a further look and a proper chance, the game can be very enjoyable. I recently took my Mom (who is a huge 'footie' fan uggg, must they call it that? and watches BPL all the time) to see the Whitecaps play. It was a fantastic experience, from the game itself, to the fans (actual crazy singing, chanting fans, what a refreshing concept), to the atmosphere of the refurbished BC Stadium (open roof on a sunny afternoon)
