the CGY game didn't stream for some reason for me.

but I agree, sven was trying to hard. But granlund is looking the most ready of those guys fighting to get in the line up.

Jones is just looking unneeded out there, I hope he doesn't take a spot from someone lie granlund.

Russell I didn't was that bad, but he was trying a bit to hard to make plays I thought.

yea unless Jones starts to show signs of being a "star" I'd rather give that spot to a younger player...he didn't seem to add anything to that top line. Stajan and Glencross were definitely the drivers behind that line, Jones was basically invisible...you could have put any other player on that line (they had Byron on that line a couple times)

Raymond gonna be a 1st liner/big sleeper in fantasy? lol

Raymond - Monahan - Hudler

Gaudreau - Backlund - Setoguchi

Glencross - Colborne - Jones

Bollig - Stajan - McGrattan

Byron Bouma

Giordano - Wideman

Smid - Brodie

Russell - Engelland

Potter

Hiller
Ramo

I think given our lack of RW, I'd move Colborne back to RW...kick out Jones or Seto (Setoguchi might be injured? Heard he collided with Yakupov last night and didn't return to the game?)
opens up the C position to bring in Granulund full time

I was at the game last night....pretty boring all in all to be honest. Oilers looked pretty brutal!

One thing I did notice was the size of Colborne and Monahan...they are both noticeably bigger...I would like to see the numbers. Monahan looked great.

just got back from watching the game in Edmonton
Hate to say it guys, but I was watching/hoping for some Sven brilliance...he didn't look good out there...I think he was trying too hard ...he would stay on the ice even after his linemates changed, float on the opponents blue line cherry picking then cough up the puck
He was subsequently sat for long periods of time lol

Granlund was on his line and looked more NHL ready...he was utilized on the PK as well

Bouma was a standout as always...big blocked shots and lots of hustle, Bigern looked suprisingly fast out there as well

Austin Carroll also made a pretty good impression to me

watched a bit of the calgary game, monahan looked very good out there, bigger stronger, and did not look like a 19 year old entering only his second NHL season. This is looking like a big time steal at 6th overall

Monahan was expecting to come in to camp at 205, not sure about Colborne. Colin, any chance you can steal those fitness results for us?? I'd be interested to see the complete rankings. Maybe they keep them on the iCloud

was listening to the Fan and they were saying basically everything I had said in my assessment of the players at the Edmonton game

They put a more positive evaluation of Diaz and after looking at some stats I might have to change my opinion too:
23:27 minutes on the ice (more than any other player). 27 shifts. Five shots. Two shot attempts that were blocked. One takeaway. Four blocked shots.

didn't realize he played that much...
hope we give him a chance, he could turn out to be a steal!

Yea I have no idea where this guy came from
big frame, looked kinda slow out there but his foot speed didn't seem to put him in a bad spot... maybe because he was decent positionally but more likely since he had limited, sheltered ice time

Nolan Yonkman played D for the Rockets in junior.

makes sense to put them on separate lines, making two solid D pairings.

Still wouldn't do it, they were one of the best pairings in the league last year

He says he can do 11 now.... I believe 12 was the highest at the combine so that could be possible.

I did 18 the other day

However, I only weigh about 170. Chara apparently can do 30+ and he weighs 250. Crazy.

Anyway apparently Backlund is injured and it might keep him out of some action early in the season.

I can do a lot also, but I think theyre talking about those wide set complete ones done at the combine. I'd be amazed if there are very many people who could do 20 of those in the whole NHL

Raymond looked good I thought...definitely has some much needed skill to fill the Cammy void. I also liked Engelland out there. They had him on the PP a couple times (don't think this is permanent haha) but he showed some decent puck moving abilities. Looks like he skates fine out there as well. Seto was meh and I dont think Bollig played much, but he definitely made his presence felt out there
