His possession numbers suck as does his ability on the wall to do anything except turn the puck over. I have watched him for two years and he does not impress me in the least.

I'm surprised about his possession numbers, what with those All-Star caliber players the bottom-6 had last season (and the one before, really).

That being said, Scuderi is still the worst player on the team at the moment.

I'm aware of all of that; the problem is, the injury did happen.

So what you're basically saying is, right now, he's the worst player on the team, yet you'd get rid of Sutter over him?

- jmatchett383

No I believe that Brandon Sutter is the worst most heartless gutless talentless turd in the NHL.

Sutturd played with Cooke and Kennedy the year before as well, poor linemates do not make up for total lack of effort.

I would be thrilled today if news came out that he went to Philly and the Pens are retaining 100% of his salary. He would be dead with in a week in Philly, literally dead.

Fine. Make it Sutter at 100% and a 4th and we'll give you Pronger.

Pronger tries harder taking a crap in the morning than Sutter has done his entire NHL career.

The only thing he impacted was other players' brains and their ability to function properly.

Also, even said in jest, this is disrespectful to Mario Lemieux. Some things are not to be joked about.

After the past few seasons Lemieux needs taken to task as well in my opinion. the whole "holier than thou" BS that went on with Cooke is a total joke, then we sign my new favorite player Downie and Car-Bomb??? Please

Like it or not I have become one of your F Sutter tribe. Seriously everything you don't want in a third line center.
- powerhouse

That's why I keep saying to try him on the wing in the top 6 for an extended look. He just simply isnt a shutdown 3rd line center. Might as well try to use him as it best suits his skill set.

I rest my case, the Pens third line relative to all other teams Corsi was DEAD LAST. What other proof does anybody want. F Sutter

Let's be real here, yea the 3rd line was bad last year, but when you surround someone with below average talent, of course he is going to play below average. I actually felt bad for sutter because he was skating with the likes of Tanner Glass, Taylor Pyatt, Craig Adams, Deryk Engelland, Joe Vitale... those players are absolutely horrible. Sutter can play better with better players, he proved it in the playoffs. Small sample size, yes, but he still played well and showed he does have some potential. Give him legitimate line mates and you might be surprised.

Do you want to know what was drastically different in the playoffs?? Sutter wanted paid and actually tried.

I'd comment on this, but then I'd have to fear for my safety at any pickup games I might play in the near future...

Not at all, I think what was drastically different was the amount of skill that the players he was playing with had. He had one assist while he was on the ice with Craig Adams, but all of his other goals included Beau Bennett, Paul Martin, Jussi Jokinen, Matt Niskanen, Olli Maatta, Krist Letang, Lee Stempniak and Brian Gibbons. I would say every player in the list has more skill than the scrubs he had with him all season. I understand your right to have an opinion on liking/disliking a player, but as far as I know you're not in that locker room, on that bench, or hanging out with him outside the ice... so you really have no right to judge his character or motivation. All you see is the hockey. You're basically making assumptions, nice try though.

So Jussi, Stemp, and Gibbons are who you are referring to as being better players than Cooke and Kennedy? Because D pairings have nothing to do with it, they are always different.

Explain to me why he all of a sudden was winning one on one battles along the boards in the playoffs, when literally he did not win a single one all year long? If the answer is his line mates your insane.

Sutter is loved by half of the locker room and the other half can not stand him, and yes I do know this for a fact; believe me or not either way it is what it is.

I do believe Jussi and Stempniak are better players than Cooke and Kennedy. Gibbons ehh I dunno, maybe. I highly doubt he lost every single one on one battle in the regular season. And I do believe linemates DO factor into that. If you know you're linemates are going to struggle than there are certain things you are going to do differently. Hell even I know this and I only play beer league hockey. I'm not saying the guy is the end all be all answer to 3rd line centers, but he definitely does not deserve the harsh, well i don't want to say criticism because it's more like hate from you, but I'll say it, criticism that you dish out on him.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know that he's loved or hated in the locker room?

Finally they smartened up and got decent third jerseys. I've been saying that they should be like these for 3 years or so now.

The Pensblog highlighted this Beau Bennett quote from Jonathan Bombulie:
“It’s being able to read and react,” Bennett said. “We played a lot like robots last year. Everything was so ingrained in your mind. You had to be at a certain place at a certain time. Even today, on our forechecks, it was cool to (hear), ‘I don’t care who’s the second or third guy. Just go to one of these spots.’ It was more free reign that way. More read and react.”

And this from Letang on the Pens' site:
“(It was a) high pace, so I was surprised,” defenseman Kris Letang said. “I don’t think you can get faster and harder than that. It was fun; it was fun to see that he bangs everything quick and he relies on us to understand and be mature enough to make things right. He’s not going to go for 2-3 hours on the ice; he’s not going to make meetings go forever. He’s going to make everything clear right away and he’s going to have the confidence in the player that he’s coaching to have the responsibility of acting like a pro and doing stuff like a pro.”

That tells you a lot about how things were run under Bylsma..

I know it's a joke comment about "Bringing the fun back" but sometimes simple practices and letting players play can work.

was talking to my penguins friend and he himself was never near the room but the sense he got from other people by talking to them was that the locker room was really unhealthy in a team sense. the problem wasnt just bylsma, the problem was just how there was a complete lack of character in the room. losing guys like cooke, talbot, rupp, etc. didnt hurt the team's on ice performance, but it really killed them off the ice.

thats why i have no problem with carcillo, he might be a goon, he might be an idiot, but sometimes a team needs that idiot around.

That is why I was on board with Bissonette... He's useless as a hockey player, but could have been a guy to loosen things up a bit. Hopefully Carcillo can do some of that.

Is there any evidence that he's a good locker room guy? I honestly have no idea, but he sure seems to get passed around more than a cheap hooker. Just my opinion, but I don't think we need this idiot.
