The style isn't even close so I don't understand the comparison. Raycroft plays like Reimer does which is go down early and try to look big with a garbage glove hand. Bernier is a supremely gifted technical goaltender who knows exactly where to be in the net.

Among all the goalies who played 55+ games last year, Bernier had the 6th best save percentage on a team that gave up a lot of shots and plays terrible defense. Bernier's only real problem is he got hurt often.

Didn't he only have two injuries last year? IM not totally surprised as he said this summer he needs to get more rest between games and not tire himself out going for full bore in practices. Not all that surprising as it was his first year as an NHL starter and probably put a lot of pressure on himself and try too hard at times.

Also, the two injuries came one right after the other... who knows if there was any relation.

Yea. Outside of giveaways, Franson may be better defensively.

Either way who you going to play Dion with? Robidas? Polak? or Franson? If Robidas is going to play with Rielly who does that leave for phaneuf to play on the right side? Both polak and franson is a disaster to be paired with phaneuf.

hope they sign him as an extra 7th defender. This signing would actually help if we got rid of franson. Maybe 3rd pairing with polak

The St.Louis Blues are laughing at us if we play polak with phaneuf on the first pairing

I'm really hoping mangement sees the holes on D and makes moves during the year or next off season.

My guess is that they see the prospects and figured this is a "fine" stop gap.

I wish Franson was gone

3rd rounder.

I think the bigger gain is the removal of his 3.3 million dollar contract.
