Bernier reminds you of Raycroft?
- Yeti1181

He reminds me of him if I'm honest. He gives up the same kind of ridiculous goals. The only difference is Bernier doesn't let in goals any other way so in the end he's still really effective.

If he didn't let in shots from the blueline he's get a shutout every game!!

This has been going on for awhile now.

Best part is I bet people think Yeti is online far too much now.

I took Bernier as a cost value player. Great contract for a starter. He will get a lot of games for cheap and if the leafs hold out, he'll put up points for me.

Considering how high are shots were it would bring us down to normal bottom 3rd of the league
- Yeti1181

I can't believe I actually checked but 7 less would put them at 11th or so. That's kind of sad.

I mean ok. He has let in a FEW bad goals. But there is thousands of other shots season where they do not compare even slightly.

yep, smallish goalie that lets in bad goals, been there seen that
- the_eye

On a team that is filled with defensive holes from the forwards to the defense, Bernier faced almost 33 shots a game and had a save percentage of .923. That's significantly better than anything Raycroft ever did for the Leafs.

Really? With a .894 save percentage? And 72 games played?

If you want to compare a Leafs goalie to Raycroft, you'd be better off with Reimer and even then you'd still be grasping at straws.

Mmmmhmmm. Raycroft is only 34 - I'm sure he'd be a much cheaper option than Bernier. Why not give him a try?

Other than the fact that Bernier was way better than Raycroft he let in just as many weird poopty goals. I started calling them the "Bernier special". He was good for one of those per game most of the year. Pretty crazy for a guy who finished the year with a borderline elite SV%.

He had one year when he had good stats...And he was on a first placed stacked Boston Bruins team. He was a 5th round selection in the draft. I am sorry but I see no comparison.

Per game? I don't think so. He let in 5 really bad goals. The rest of the bad goals he may of let in are a regular occurrence for any NHL goalie.

I know?! Long shot from the point gliding along the ice? Good chance it goes in.

2 on 1 with a great sniper, cross crease pass? Glove save.

It was just really weird.
Hopefully it was just an odd season.
