this type of "analysis" is very flawed
when you look deeper in to the stats you see what was happening

Sorry, you have to look at a spreadsheet to see they were terrible? Why did I even bother to watch the games then, such a waste of time.

They had the most scoring chances against the Bruins, hemmed them down low, I remember watching the replays on Leafs TV during that summer, they were a good line
- LeafMan

they were clicking, unlike last season watching kadri and lupul it was like they never played together after thanksgiving, arghhH!

to be honest, i felt all of our lines were playign great in that series, nobody was horrible; game 7...impressive considering where boston went and how good their team was.

I don't watch games anymore. I wait for the boxscores to be posted in Excel online and watch like Neo reads the Matrix. Much quicker and better than PVRing.

guys guys, chill

i think what sens is trying to say is there was more to it than line a b c and d going over the boards, who they match against, what positions the coach has them in...O zone faceoffs, d zone faceoffs etc

kessel line will be out for MOST of the o zone faceoffs
grabo line was out for most of the d zone faceoffs

so it makes sense one of the lines is going to produce more and the other is going to let in more...

thats just an example

In Montreal that's called a power forward, no?

I guess I was watching a different series, they must of had Mac A and Grabo clones giving the puck away inside their own zone as well.

And everyone who complains about the Gunnar/Polak trade forgets that Gunnar can't make a tape-to-tape pass in his own zone or chip a puck past a pinching Dman. It's crazy.

I can admit I dont see everything thats happening and I dont pretend to be an expert on everything related to what goes on during a game.

A goalie faces 50 shots in a night and let's in 3 terrible 5-hole goals from outside the blueline and the team loses 3-2. Stats after the game say he played well, but my eyes tell me it's his fault. Who's right?

Honestly Lucas, I don't give a (frank) about O or D zone faceoff starts etc.. I only care and watch how players position themselves, how they react when a faceoff is lost or how they compete for the puck along the boards or how some make the same bonehead plays over and over again (like Grabo in the Bruins series).

At the end of the day or game that is what determines if you win or lose.

I will take a goalie who stops 47/50 shots ...if he is doing that consistently
I dont care how they go in

so your eyes tell you that it's his fault the team gave up 50 shots? your eyes tell you that there's not a chance that having faced so much rubber, the goalie was a bit worn down and more prone to giving up soft goals?

the things you dont give a (frank) about are very important...

if you only care about half the stuff that happens in a game then i dont know how you can argue against anything.

even if your goalie gives up 10 goals on 50 shots, he's still not your biggest problem. giving up 50 shots is a sign of catastrophic breakdowns all over the ice.
