Probably Kadri and 1st. If we are giving up JVR it's Columbus who would be adding not us. - Yeti1181
So JVR breakout season at 24 is 60 points. RJ breaks out 3 years earlier with more points and plays centre. His value is higher right now and down the road. You guys put very little value on centres but that's not the case in the NHL. |

I don't know if it's the ice time or the fact he plays so much while having to do his job plus some or the other guys and having forwards that don't know what defense is. - Yeti1181
He's going to have to carry the mail again this year.
And regarding our other conversation, if they both top out as 70-80 point players then I think you need to tip the scale towards the centre. |

JVR has only really had the one good season, and I have to disagree that he is worth more than Johansson. - BetterCallSaul
Yeah, it's a one for one type deal. Johansen is younger, plays center and put up 30 / 60 without playing with Kessel. The only thing is that Johansen wants a sizable contract so he would take up more cap space. And Bozak would become a 4 million dollar 3rd line center. But Columbus can take Bozak if they want.
Johansen and Foligno for JVR and Bozak? |

This still doesn't answer why he's worth more then JVR he's still had one good season and is trying to get paid like an elite center. Also JVR breakout season wasn't last year it was the year before when he got 32 in 48 games so would have been 23.
EDIT:
You know many points RJ put up in the lockout season? 12, 12 freaking points. |

Yeah I could see one for one but taking contract value we could lose almost 2 million in cap space that's why I say they add, not much but still. |

Davidson should start spelling it that way in emails to his agent and CC Johansen in just to make sure he sees it.
Kid will buckle. |

This is a perfect example the amateurish, jeuvenile nature of the Toronto sports media. I was at the symposium and those where light-hearted comments by Spott and ANYONE in that room would tell you that. But, of course, you have a "journalist" like Feschuk blowing it out of proportion just for the sake of a story. Hilariously sad and typical! |

Hypothetically, and because I am bored, What would Ryan Johansson cost the Leafs?
I would assume JVR would be the focal point of the return, because his contract (skill vs. cap hit) is one of the best in the league. But would it have to be JVR and Kadri? That seems a little expensive to me. - BetterCallSaul
no thanks. our depth would be shot. I think it would take a bit extra if one of these guys were included, but both of em would be massive overpayment for a guy with one good season to his name

yet RJ has had one good season. If he can duplicate that or even add to it, fine.
Last off season Kadri or JVR would have gotten Johansen + on their own. |

Doubt that. Blue Jackets have been high on Johansen since they drafted him. Maybe Kadri with another piece could have gotten him but I sincerely doubt it would have gone past some back and forth. |

Kadri was coming of a 44 point in 48 game season, Johansen was coming off a 12 point in 40 game season and was looking like another 1st rounder that wasnt gonna pan out(Brule, Brassard,Pouilot, Filatov, Zherdev) .
Gotta give RJ credit though, he was the most improved player by a country mile. He has a defensive conscience, so I don't see him being more than a 65-70 pt player though |

Occam's razor would indicate that Kessel lied to Simmons when he bluntly asked him about what Spott said. I find lying to someone's face more difficult as I grow older, and it's not something that's usually accepted. But I don't blame Phil or anyone for staring down Simmons or bottomfeeders like Feschuk and telling them something that's false.
