It may be worth it for a team like Chicago or LA who are pretty much guaranteed to be late 1st round draft picks. Especially Chicago seeing that they need a second line center but none of the high end teams have the cap room to fit him in. Doubt any bottom 15 team takes the risk with the Mcdavid/Eichel draft coming up.

those would be the last teams to offersheet him, to get him to sign, it would have to be a big contract, and for them to gut their team to make cap room for them. It would be a 2 steps back 1 step forward sort of thing.
