It was my fault...and a reflex accident - jimi james
It happens. I can't count the number of times that Nikita has inadvertently injured me or Erika. Best was he whipping around the corner and running upstairs just as I was coming downstairs... one black eye and a concussion later... |

How many times do we see kessel fly down the ice by himself and let off a snap shot.
I think this is the reason he always looks tired on the bench. He usually has one last burst down the ice all by himself while his teammates are changing.
I can't think of anyone on the team that does this on a regular basis. - bryant
my god.. hooked up with a new girl with a bit of an... "appetite" this past week and now i see everything dirty... modding is gonna be tricky for the next lil while

Does Phil put up great numbers yes.
Do you think he is in the best shape he can possibly be in. ? I don't. Never have. The article isn't creating anything I didn't already think.
I watch ever single game and he looks winded out there sometimes. More than he should. More than other top tier players.
He is overweight. No one can possibly deny that. I think if he wasn't he would be a better player. That's it. And every player has a responsibility to be doing everything they can to be the best they can.
I guess what I boils down to is I think Phil could be a 45 goal scorer who is content to score 35. Just my sense of the situation. - D.Lemieux
I agree..I dont think phil can hit 45 with just conditioning though. He needs a true #1 center. Bozak has actually evolved into a dependable #2.
The guys who scored 40+ last year all had elite playmaking centres.
Ovechkin had Backstrom (61 assists)
Perry had Getzlaf (56 assists)
Pavelski had Thornton (65 assists)
As a comparable, Bozak put up 30 in 58 games, he would have been around 40 in a full season. |

DO NOT put any stock in the anonymous quotes of 3 amateur Toronto hockey coaches. Dave Feschuk is the epitome of what is wrong with the Toronto sports media. These quotes were gathered a month ago and the story conveniently comes out the day training camp opens - total BS and the only motivation by this clown is to create controversy around the Leafs when there is none.
Manager's and Employees, or Coaches and Players have respectful discussions all the time about philosophies, new ways to do things, etc and all good managers/coaches will take the input of their most junior employee, let alone their superstar.
The only thing this article is missing is a quote from Spott's mom talking about how much Phil hurt Steve's feelings. Complete garbage from a complete garbage reporter. Thrilled to get to listen to this the rest of the week...another "is the Toronto media too hard on the players" radio day and a half to come...our lines are open to sensationalize and already sensationalistic "story". I'd rather punch myself in the face repeatedly then have to hear this - just put the games on TV with no commentary, commercials and a black screen during intermissions. Garbage. |

You realize that most "big news" are coming via anonymous sources, right?

I don't think that Phil is content with anything. Personally I don't see another guy on the team who takes failure more personally than Phil. I think he's a potential 45 goal scorer if he wasn't running on a two-man line - lumlums
I agree with Lums. Also Phil is just a thick dude really. I don't think he's that "fat." Just a guy with a solid build, I think if he was so unfit he couldn't skate like he does. But could he be more fit is probably the question? My answer is everyone in the world could be more fit. |

I am aware; I also would put a lot more stock in "anonymous team sources" or "anonymous league sources" than "3 amateur coaches at a second rate coaching clinic from a month ago anonymous sources". That's just me though. |

I can't count the number of times that Nikita has injured myself or Mrs Lums accidentally... from small things such as moving her head or paw sharply into ours, to running around the corner and upstairs just as I was coming downstairs, she definitely has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time |

This is even less journalistic integrity than pulling twitter posts off the internet and quoting them in your story. This isn't Joe Hockey's Blogspot - this is the Toronto Star, and whether you lik eit or not, they are considered a major newspaper in Canada. I expect better than pandering for page hits and newspaper sales with a ridiculous story like this.
"@YoungNatsCoach69 Steve Spott said Phil Kessel didn't like his breakout plan; now they're feuding #hahaha #GTHL" that's not news to me. |
