Alright female doges, the season unofficially starts tomorrow. I need to know now however, will the team suck or be awesome? - BetterCallSaul
I think they have enough grit and talent to make the playoffs. If they play well for 82 games and keep their shots against to 30 a game they will be fine. |

Seems like the article was all wrote off second hand talk. I doubt spott goes to a clinic and starts divulging conversations like that and telling people how kessel is over weight - Yeti1181
Spott's a douche if he's doing that. Also, it doesn't sound too smart if you take a guy like Kessel, who has been knocked for not being sound defensively in his own end, and tell him to skate to the left wing spot on the breakout. Let's just tell him to get completely out of position and put 2 guys on the left wing while we try to get the puck out. The puck gets turned over at the Leafs blueline and everyone runs around even more because Kessel's out of position. Great thinking, Spott. The centre and winger crossing over on the breakout is one thing but the winger switching sides is ridiculous. Keep it simple, defend your position in your own end and get out of the zone quickly. It's not rocket science. |

Leave it to festuck to sensationalize another story. Is it possible that Kessel gave valid reasons for not wanting to do the breakout that spott laid out??
I find it funny how the article quotes the mystery attendee as saying that "management doesn't want to deal with Kessel"...... and yet management gave him a long term deal. |

Not sure how that matters at all. That's what journalists are suppose to do; get the truth. It's not like he held her at gun point or did anything that a journalist isn't suppose to do. - JohnFergusonJr
It's yellow journalism to go to such lengths to dig up dirt on someone and sensationalize it. It gives the appearance that you have an axe to grind and you are not being an objective professional. And if you use second or third hand information to try to create a scandal then nobody should take you seriously as a journalist. |

The journalists exist nowadays to sell the newspapers, and increase subscriptions. They seem more interested in making the news than reporting it. I think that pretty much the only guys who I believe are Sean Fitz-Gerald and Jonas Siegel. Mirtle is usually accurate, if somewhat self-absorbed. . |

So Leafs TV is showing stuff "Live" all day today from the opening of camp, but it doesn't look like they are showing anything tomorrow when they are actually on the ice. |

Not exactly a news flash there may be heated discussion even conflict between NHL players and coaches on the implementation of new strategies. Would be surprised if it doesn't happen on ever team. Phil is a smart player, he is going to have an opinion and no he doesn't just have to blindly accept whatever the coaches say anymore there can be discussion. He isn't in jr.
I really like Kessel but What does actually concern me is the 15 lbs and that looks to be generous. Seems like a player taking his innate talent for granted. Lose the weight Phil and get your a$$ on the bike maybe then you will hit 40 or more |

Most Leafs fans I've seen post on here accept and offer criticism on the Leafs. But the muckraking and low blows are annoying. |

- robin_steele264
A story with essentially no direct quotes, where nobody is on the record is pretty much the essence of sensationalist Mumbo-Jumbo. If Feschuk actually did proper reporting rather than going to the mothers of players, perhaps people would take him more seriously.
I don't doubt that there's disagreement from time to time, but I also think that the offensive tactics aren't the area of most concern. Make changes on defence first, then see what can be done to implement better luck possession in the offensive zone next. |

I would imagine fans would be more content to accept said criticism if once, just once, these journalists mentioned, said one thing positive about any one of the Leafs players. Like ever. Just once. It's like listening to Fakepartofme every day of your life. |

Not the same coin. Fans, by definition, are not objective. Journalists should be objective and operate according to professional standards. I question the standards of a guy who calls the mother of an injured athlete who is obviously upset about her son's injury as a way to raise questions about what the team is doing. The real issue here, though, is Spott airing private laundry in a public setting. |
