He doesn't just have the best numbers on the leafs, he has some of the best numbers in the league. Never have we heard on actual leaf person say he's over weight, not one. - Yeti1181
OV must be a fat (frank) too, his team hasn't won anything. |

Ovechkin has some of the best numbers in the league too, doesn't mean he knows better than his coaches or has actually helped his teams win anything either. - JohnFergusonJr
You didn't say that you were referencing his weight issue. You don't think Ovi has help make the capitals better? He can't win a Stanley cup on his own. |

Why would a sports writer reveal the names of a bunch of minor hockey coaches who are acting as sources? - JohnFergusonJr
To back up his claim. They aren't 'sources' they were a bunch of guys at coaching clinic |

There's no doubt Ovechkin makes the Capitals an average team instead of a terrible team but it doesn't mean his attitude couldn't improve either. The talented guys who buy in usually help their team go a lot further than the stubborn primadonnas who think they know better than everybody else because they have natural talent. Look at the difference it made with Yzerman. He spent half his career playing for himself and winning nothing and the other half winning because he realized what it meant to buy in. |

I like what Spotts trying to do with the break out though. Gives me hope.
Sucks that players refuse to buy into it - jbold
Rookie coach, meet Phil Kessel. Yeah, welcome to the NHL. Every team is going to have a tough crowd to win over; I don't really think this is news. And most of this is hearsay from some other participants who are not even members of the Maple Leafs organization. |

They are most definitely sources because they are the source of the writer's information. Why would those guys lie? They have absolutely nothing to gain. It's not like by lying about the whole story that they got millions of dollars. |

You'd have to be blind not to see he's not in the best physical shape he could possibly be in. - JohnFergusonJr
Who the (frank) said Kessel was better than his coaches???
This is the stupidest debate you have ever brought here.
Are you butt hurt the Bruins traded Kessel for a guy that was elite and now left the team so you classless whores can't chant the 'thank you Kessel" anymore? |

You don't think journalist make stories up or stretch what happened to get people to read their articles? I have some nice land in Antarctica you might be interested in. |

Tim said in the organization which encompasses all of mlse such as the leafs, raptors, jays and TFC. If anything he would have been talking about Dafoe wanting to go back to England. |

When someone makes a statement that isn't true, that doesn't mean they're a liar, they could just be ignorant. Take this statement, for example: "The Raptors will be more popular than the Leafs in 10yrs, I promise you that"

Depends on whether it's the same reporter who called Mrs Reimer to ask about Jimmy's concussion. |

That quote isn't so much a statement of what he knows happens within his organization as much as a prediction based on future cultural demographics. The Raptors may very well be able to create a huge amount of interest in the next 10 years if they remain a competitive team. More than the Leafs? Probably not but also probably not that far off either. |

Not sure how that matters at all. That's what journalists are suppose to do; get the truth. It's not like he held her at gun point or did anything that a journalist isn't suppose to do. |

Yeah, he really nailed the "mom is worried about her kid's concussion" story with that one. I'm hoping he wins a Pulitzer for the Spott/Kessel death match story. |

That was GREASY! Shows what kind of class Toronto media has. You don't call someone's mom for a injury update. Whats next, visit his kids school? |

Hey buddy,
Boston, Pits, Tampa, Philly, Montreal, and NYR. And lets not forget the surprise teams like NJ and Washington.
There are the top eight IMO that the Leafs need to be better than. Toronto might get in, but likely 6th to 8th. First round will be a battle. - sloppyseconds2
Wuz up Slopps?
The teams you listed will be competitive but I'm not sure they aren't any better than the leafs. I'm not sold on TB, Philly, or Montreal. I don't like the make up of Wash and NJ.
Just making the playoffs this year will appease leaf fans. Hopefully show that great first round series with Boston two seasons ago wasn't a fluke.
To be honest I think the Leafs suffer the same condition as the canucks; self-implosionitis. Both teams have an amazing ability to defeat themselves. |
