Don't doubt they do, just saw or read a bit of an article where Davidson is taking it personally... there is pressure... maybe not to the point where he shines like Gillis, but it is not like this can't be screwed up.

Stumbled across this site:

http://tru-blvr.tripod.co...hathousandwords/id15.html

Great quotes. Love this gem from Burke:

"We already have a Federov and thats one Federov too many." Burke on being asked if he wanted Sergei so that the brothers could play together.

"Good, so he's going back to $65 a week?"-- Brian Burke, on word that free agent Peter Schaefer was skating with the WHL's Vancouver Giants.

Fun talk when you picture him in a Canucks uni, but the reality is it is a very long shot when you consider the cap and what would have to go the other way... but what else is there to talk about?

This is a commonly accepted lineup possibility (fact)

Sedins Vrbata
Burrows Bonino Kassian
Higgins Vey Hansen
Matthias Richardson Dorsett

What do you think? I was wondering if Vey could centre that 2nd line and have Bonino and Kassian on the wing?

True dat. It's always nice to dream (Vantel dreams in Fillipino by the way).

I think Vey could be a sleeper/dark horse in all of this. It seems there has been, for the most part, positive feedback on said lad and that he certainly has some decent upside.

It would be an interesting combination, but Vey obviously has to have a great camp in order to even start thinking about some sort of top 6 role. Let's hope it pans out, though

Of course Lack is in goal. Couldn't you tell from the line-up that Burrows, Horvat Higgins and 5 first round picks were traded for Johansen. If I could only call up Dan Russell and say, "Hi Dan, first time caller. Given that Columbus is desperate Benning could get Johansen for Hansen because Columbus would only be giving up the 'Jo' and would save a ton of money."

Nah, no pressure for that organization to have a potential star not want to play there...

They finally start heading in the right direction, making the playoffs and their best young player is in a contract dispute...

- hillbillydeluxe

If he won't play there then they have no reason to rush. If he isn't on the team they are at best a bubble team (not even, realistically) so what reason do they have to take less than fair or even unfair (in their favour) value? Either way they are (frank)ed if he leaves so may as well get more out of the deal and show other GMs and players that you will not be manhandled by an agent and a 21 y/o with one good season

He fills the "boxing hobo on skates" niche, it is an important category for fantasy stats

"Long time listener, look up to you as a radio host with great knowledge..." Cut him off and tell him he is wrong... never gets old.

I know, crazy scenarios and stars aligning, a lawn of 4 leaf clovers... Blue Jackets are playing a dangerous game.

Anyway, Vey will be a great addition if he can play/develop into a 2nd line player. Looking at age and experience, putting Vey on the 2nd line is as likely and may be more likely than Kassian starting the season there. He has played a lot in the ahl and put up respectable numbers there along with WD knowing him and the game he plays- Kassian is only 7 months older than Vey.

When Vrbata was interviewed earlier at the golf course, he mentioned talking to Jan Bulis about playing in Vancouver.

I almost wish Benning had played hardball with Kesler... We would have seen youth in the lineup while waiting for it to be resolved and been in a spot for a good draft pick.... but like the idea of making the playoffs more.

The only problem with that is that I think even without Kes and what we got back for him we can only sink so low realistically, though prior to the Miller/vrbata acquisitions we certainly could have put together a pretty poopty season even with the Sedins

Fair points. Especially agree with the point about the AHL production, just shows how we continue to overrate our own prospects.

Nucker also thinks we should do the actual draft once the main camps are over and all the roster/positions etc are essentially finalized. This will allow a much better/informed draft selection than if we did it any earlier.

Any thoughts?

We would of had to trade everyone to get low enough to have a chance at the McDavid pick. Once you really start sucking, it doesn't matter how many top picks you have, it isn't easy getting back to being a playoff team.

More good draft picks would be nice but nothing is guaranteed when you have those picks. But have more faith in Benning and his regime to make good use of these picks than any management group we have had in a long time.

I wonder if there is a Patrick White canuck jersey out there somewhere.
