When the sucky Canucks finish higher in the standings than the Oil, will you continue to eat your own farts?

I will spoon feed him the farts.

I don't have a huge problem with that lineup. I am still undecided if Horvat should stay and play a limited role or return to jr. for more icetime. There is no rush to have Jensen or Shink in the lineup on opening night if they are not top 6 here but get the ice time in Utica.

Just because the Sedins and Vrbata are all old, doesn't necessarily mean they are a 2nd line... lets wait to see if the Sedins can recapture some of their moxie and get it going again.

Anyway, I can live with the lineup and will have to live with the results.

Win or lose it wont effect my personal life or any other fan, hell the Seahawks won the (frank)ing Super Bowl, a team I have been cheering for since day one (1976) and I had a great day that day but the next morning it was same old same old.

Every time he is mentioned, it is positive stuff....

But to be cynical, he was the odd man out of LA, if he was all that great they would have found a way to keep him.... and I guess the retort to a statement like that is to look at Canada's Olympic team and Subban coming off a recent Norris trophy is a spare...

Can't wait, drop the puck already!

Kind of hard for the kid to grab a spot from the likes of Kopitar, Richards, Stoll and Nolan as each excel at their respective roles on the Kings.

I listed the centers because i believe (if I'm not mistaken) that the kings attempted to play Vey on the wing (in fourth line role) in which his playmaking/possession skills were underutilized.

I have absolutely no idea how Vey will turn out but i will say this, had Jensen or Schroeder put up 48 points in 43 AHL games last year or 67pts in 74 games the prior year, many on this thread would have praised them as the second coming of Christ.

As opposed to every other prospect we have, Vey has demonstrated the ability to excel at both the minor and pro level, with that in mind i think theres reason for optimism (hopefully) ((frank) we need it)

So when is it ok to have a little optimism, positive outlook and overall fan faith in the team we all support, just before or after we win the cup?

There's just many guys who are solid scorers in the AHL and don't translate well into the NHL. Plus he's not really known for two-way or physical play so he's going to be one of those guys who's useless if he's not producing, and typically those guys become whipping boys for fanbases, especially if given bottom 6 minutes.

I'm not saying he's going to suck, I'm just very sceptical at this point. His possession numbers in his short stint in the NHL are pretty bad as well.

Nothing wrong with optimism if you're a fan of the player. I haven't seen him play or followed his career much at all so I'm undecided at this point and so I can't get too excited yet like some are.

Some great points We have been misled before and been burned. Vey looks very promising, but as Bloated mentioned, it only cost us a late 2nd round pick... so it will be a hell'va move by Benning if it works out.

Would a 2nd line of Bonino Vey Kassian work?

Fair points. Especially agree with the point about the AHL production, just shows how we continue to overrate our own prospects.

Let's give it 28 games (1/3 of the season) to see if change really came…
That way we can actually critique Willie's new system, see if any rookies earn a spot, if the twins bounce back, and Benning has filled holes in our lineup.

Fair?

I think you've gotta make up your mind only after he plays a full season, there are so many ups and downs during the year, not to mention this is a new organization with new players for the kid.

And isn't it fair?
