That should set you up nicely for this year and down the road as the players develop (pox on thee, though )

I'd offer

Hansen, Matthias, McCann, 2016 1st, and Jensen to bring Johansen home to Vancouver.

Lineups would look solid

Danny/Hank/Vrbata
Burrows/Johansen/Kassian
Higgins/Bonino/Vey
Sestito/Richardson/Dorsett

I doubt Columbus would say yes to that deal, but you have to think that they'd consider it. Two roster players, two prospects, and a first round pick.

Signing Johansen to a deal would probably be the hardest part. In my fantasy he signs a bridge deal, so everything works out haha.

For some reason I can't find my roster when I log into the league via iPhone. Are you guys able to see your roster from last season?

I believe the framework for your proposal is a good start. McCan, 2016 1st, Jensen and perhaps another piece - a guy like Shinkaruk (ouch), and maybe Hansen if absolutely necessary, could make that deal interesting and even semi-feasible. It's obvious overpayment but you don't get a guy like Johansen for nothing.

I'm not sure if I'd pull the trigger on this variation (unless there was another piece coming back - perhaps a 2nd or 3rd round draftpick?) as I indicated, it's definitely overpayment, but I think, at the same time, Columbus would need more than just Hansen and Mathias (throw-away basically) as you suggested in the proposal.

If I'm Columbus and was offered McCan, Jensen, Shinkaruk and 2016 1st, do I make that deal? (again, seems like the inevitable overpayment to make the deal happen). Hence, conversely, would Vancouver/you do the deal?

For myself, I feel it's too much to offer, but it's a difficult choice. Johansen is just scratching the surface of what he can do.

I'd assume we'd have to take on a number of contracts for the deal to work, and I'd be happy with players who project as lifetime AHL'rs. Is it worth it to overpay for the guy? He's 6 foot 4 230 lbs, he can score, plays the most important position in hockey, and young. Considering that we play in the pacific division, we desperately need a player like him to compete. Now that we have stocked up on some prospects, I think it would be safe to "overpay" for a player of his ilk.

At this point I doubt CBJ will trade him, but there is a slight possibility this gets uglier. If it does, anything is possible.

Hefty trade man. Guys had one good year. the lock out year he had like 12 points. I think we should let him establish himself a little more before we start making hefty trades like that.

Can you imagine the change in direction for this franchise if they could get a hold of Johansen and Kane? Impossible I know, but to have two 'local' boys who want to play here. Boy that would be refreshing.

I'm starting to sound like a leaf fan...

Sorry Gullzy, that looks like a NHL14 deal to me. Quantity does not equal quality. As Zogg mentions, these kind of players aren't easy to find. Johansen also been referred to as a franchise player. Is anyone in your offer considered unique or has a skill set that's hard to find?
The only way I can see the canucks getting Johansen is a offer sheet and I doubt Benning pulls something like that. Benning's too much of a 'hockey guy'.

Too bad we don't have Gillis anymore…

Are they head cases because they don't want to play for the teams that hold their contract?

I think Kane's just fallen into that typical young, black, brash, sports star personality that predominates the american sports landscape. He'll grow out of that.

Johansen just has a bumhole of an agent.

Put them both in their hometown and you would see a change in attitude.

Did Canucks trade away their second round pick next year making them not able to Offer Sheet?

Four first rounders is what it will take to get RJ.

Shink Horvat Jensen and next years first. If you are not willing to part with that then this conversation becomes moot.

JD knows Canucks will get a high pick next year and would probably accept.

No, but they gave third 3rd to Anaheim in the Kesler deal.

http://www.prosportstrans...Trades/Future/Canucks.htm

The compensation would be first, second, and third-round pick for an offer between $5,046,586 to $6,728,781.

We could get that 3rd back if needed.

I think best case for Canucks if they are eligible to OS. Johansen is to go 6.5 three years let CBJ match and go again after him when he becomes a UFA in three or four more years.

That would be an offer between $8,410,977 and above. I'm playing the role of Leaf fan but I ain't that crazy to offer RJ an $8.5mil per contract!

I am not saying we pay him that much.

I am suggesting JD will match anything that doesn't have a return of four firsts? It would be nuts to pay him that much or cripple the team for years after. We could trade existing first rounders for him and pay him his 6.5 long term

I think Johansen is a pipe dream and will not happen. I think when he becomes an UFA that is a whole different story and should wait until then.

Jesus man people were still asking for Nyquist + in Kesler scenarios and the kid had a higher GPG than Johansen did, he has had one good year and that is a big (frank)ing gamble to give up that many prospects
EDIT: your original proposal here was not so shocking but the possibility of adding Shinkaruk etc. discussed below

I'd gladly have JK trade Johansen to you guys. For Horvat and 1st, I'd accept that.

Oh man, would I do this in a second.
