Shhhhhhhh! Leaf fans are already penciling in Bobby on the second line. This news will crush them. - bloatedmosquito
Burke is not the GM anymore...not many leafs fans want a less talented Kessel on the 2nd line for 7.5 to 8 mil per. |

Me neither. Get it done MacT. RNH, Johansen, Draisaitl would be the best 1,2,3 combo in the league for the next 10 years. Who cares about hurt feelings with other gm's or 4-1st rounders. This kid is a stud. Pay him! - Ihatebrianburke

maybe as an UFA, but I can't see him moving Kadri + or Nylander + to get him.
I think a lot of the shine has worn off Bobby after a couple less than stellar seasons.
Someone will pay him though. |

Rumor has it that Johansen may or may not have agreed to terms with Columbus over an offer that may or may not have been proposed. |

Lecavier, schenn, 2nd for johansen.
Schenn has shown consistent improvement over a few season as johansen has one really good season. |

Maybe you're right and maybe you're wrong. What maybe clear here is that johansen may not be in cbj for start of season. |

If they miss the playoffs because they lose too many points in October/November,
I can't wait for RJ comments at the end of the season.

Which Schenn? Also, Lecavalier has negative value, so Philly would have to up it on their end to balance it out even more. |

It's pretty simple, RJ has zero leverage at this point in his career, you take whatever's the best offer you can get for 2 years, show up to training camp and keep tearing it up. You'll get your money eventually, you're not going to get it after 1 good season when you're an RFA with no leverage, this isn't Edmonton. |

Those were good deals for us though. Had we signed a 2 yr bridge deal with Hall we would paying him close to 8 million next summer. I get the point tho. |

To be fair, you guys were in an unusual position. I just like picking on Edmonton
Normally, you have established veterans and star players making the big bucks and when you have prospects coming up through the lineup, they're not relied upon to be your top players, when comes time to give them their bridge contract, they usually start to shine and expect to get paid but the reality is that they simply don't have leverage as they're restricted and their only options are to either play for a decent salary and keep trucking to make the big bucks in a few years or sit at home and pout as a holdout (Hi Subban).
In your case, they were playing top minutes and relied upon to lead the team, makes sense they got the big contracts, they did have some leverage. Without them, Edmonton wouldn't have been able to compete in the AHL.
Johansen though... his agent needs to chill the (frank) out. He'll get paid, but not this year or next. He needs to settle for something realistic and then get paid crazy money when the time comes. |

He probably thinks he should get a hefty bridge deal and have the chance to negotiate when he actually is "the man" in Columbus and 60 point players are worth 8-9 million. I know I would not want a long term deal right now. |
