I'd trade Burrows and Sestito but adding the 2nd is too much. Pundits are predicting the Canucks will suck so that 2nd rounder will be in the 31-35 range.

I would say RJ is as valuable to his team as say Taylor Hall, If Columbus can't afford to pay him what he's worth they shouldn't be in the league.

He's not worth $6.5+

Why stop at 4 years @ $6.5 million? 47 goals in 149 career games. That's $10 million+ range. The guy has shown he can put up big numbers consistently. Time for him to cash in.

I'd give him 6.5 long-term. Cap is going to go up again, that's basically going to end up being a lower level 1st line cap hit/ high level 2nd liner cap hit in a 2-3 years IMO. Not to mention that he's a big, physical center.

Unless something changes dramatically, Johansen is a 25 goal, 60 point guy.

That's nothing to sniff at, but it's not as though he's setting the world on fire with that type of production either.

He had more than both this past season, and he just turned 22 so I'm gonna assume that he still has upside....

Me too. $6.5 will look real nice in 2-3 years. Do you overpay a little now for a bargain later? I would try. Thing is, he knows it too. So he's not going to take that over a long term.

He also had a way above average shooting percentage. Can't see him maintaining those numbers unless he starts shooting significantly more.

True, I think he could increase his shots per game though and considering he played a lot with guys like Nick Foligno I'd say he's also carrying his weaker linemates.

I think his contract demands would suddenly become more reasonable if his rights get traded. But if he does want like 7 mil per long-term, I'd eventually cave in for sure.

Burrows has a negative value and Sestito is a 4th liner. So essentially a 2nd rounder for a franchise center. Sounds about right

CBJ said Johansen not welcome to work out there if unsigned (as is their right). Expect him to go home to Vancouver or Portland (WHL team).

Sounds like this is the beginning of Johansen being moved to the Canucks.
